About the Mother Baby Unit 

The Werribee MBU is a 6-bed, 6-cot inpatient facility specialising in perinatal mental health. The unit supports women experiencing moderate to severe perinatal mental health challenges and focuses on strengthening parenting capacity and the mother-infant relationship. 

The multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, psychologists, maternal and child health nurses, clinical nurse specialists, postgraduate-trained nursing staff, a Nurse Unit Manager, and other allied health professionals. 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented mental health nursing care 
• Support mother-infant bonding and parenting skills development 
• Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team 
• Contribute to treatment planning, risk assessments, and documentation 
• Participate in quality improvement and reflective clinical practice 
• Demonstrated commitment to holistic, family-centred care 
• Excellent clinical, organisational, time management, and communication skills 
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team 
• Availability for shift work, including nights

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

• Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse 

• Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent 

• Experience in mental health settings (Adult, Perinatal, or Infant Mental Health preferred)

 You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

• A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
