What is the position?
Registered Nurses (RNs) provide direct patient care at our Nurse-led clinic: Magnet at Strut. The position will provide top quality Sexual Health care from a culturally competent and stigma free perspective. This includes assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating Strut’s clients for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV infection. All Magnet at Strut staff members also serve as HIV testing counselors as needed in the clinic.
This is a Per Diem position that includes weekday, weekend, and evening shifts. Per Diems work a maximum of 20 hours in any given week. Ideal Per Diem candidates will be able to work 4 shifts per month.
What are the main responsibilities?
- Serves as the primary interface with clients seeking screening for sexually transmitted infections and PreExposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and non-Occupational Post Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP) services.
- Provides direct clinical services as defined by Strut ’s protocols and treatment guidelines including specimen collection, high-volume phlebotomy, administration of treatments, management of PrEP and nPEP care, performing point of care lab tests, client counseling, and education.
- Works with Magnet at Strut staff and other volunteers to ensure quality of care.
- Provides referrals as appropriate to outside providers.
- Serves as a clinic leader and assists in the coordination of clinic operations, flow, and client care.
- Completes documentation of reports and clinical services provided with a high level of detail and thoroughness.
- Provides other professional or administrative duties as required.
Who are we looking for?
- Current California Registered Nurse License is required. Employee must maintain an active Registered Nurse License with the California Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers required.
- Current California Certification as an HIV Counselor required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- A minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of One year of work in Outpatient Sexual Health Setting required.
- Bilingual English and Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, or ASL valued.
- Ability to work comfortably with diverse populations, with sensitivity to issues concerning HIV and all disabilities. Responds efficiently and cordially to requests for service and assistance.
Where is the position located?
This position is primarily located at 470 Castro Street, San Francisco, however it may occasionally require traveling to other office locations or off-site meetings as required by the job. Role may include evening and weekend coverage.

Salary/Hourly Rate : $51.92 - $64.90 Per Hour
