With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Regional Director of Nursing Excellence, in
collaboration with senior leadership, is accountable for coordinating activities required to attain and
maintain ANCC Magnet and Pathway designation/recognition and other nursing excellence programs. The
director is responsible for the design and implementation of the Magnet, Pathway and nursing excellence
program strategies by working collaboratively with the direct care providers, nursing leaders, and ancillary
leadership colleagues across the organization. Responsibilities include education, intra/inter department
collaboration, application development and submission and serving as the liaison with the American
Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet/Pathway Program Office and other nursing excellence programs.

Job Description

Regional Director of Nursing Excellence - Full Time Days - Jefferson Health

• Interacts with co-workers, leaders, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

• Creates nursing excellence program strategies that develop standardized processes and practices to improve efficiency, maximizing continuity of patient care while maintaining professional standards within disciplines and across patient care centers.

• Leads nursing excellence program planning, implementation and evaluation including performance standards and methods of measuring and monitoring these standards within nursing.

• Works collaboratively with nursing, physicians, operational and ancillary professional leadership to ensure Magnet/Pathway designation goals are accomplished

• Serves as a liaison to the College of Nursing and other entities to develop and maintain relationships to ensure integration of research and evidence-based practice into nursing care practice
  
• Serves as liaison with ANCC Magnet/Pathway

• Maintains current knowledge of Magnet/Pathway designation standards

• Provides leadership to the department of nursing in interpretation and compliance with ANCC Magnet/Pathway program standards and expectations

• Promotes excellence in nursing practice and research
  
• Collaborate with quality partners to improve patient outcomes
  
• Develops strategies that inform and support standard approaches to nurse/ nursing roles onboarding and credentialing in both inpatient and ambulatory settings

• Monitors the nurse excellence department’s budget

• Leads the preparation, editing and publication of the annual demographics, Mid-designation report, Magnet/Pathway re-designation document, and site visit preparation.

• Provides oversight for the evaluation of program outcomes which support the requirements of the Magnet/Pathway Recognition Program

• Monitors and implement strategies to improve nurse satisfaction, nurse sensitive indicators, and patient satisfaction

• Provides the leadership and guidance for the ongoing evaluation of Jefferson Nursing Professional Governance structure and shared decision-making mentorship of frontline staff nurse leaders.

• Leads continuing evaluation and integration of the Professional Practice Model into clinical practice

• Coordinates assessment of Magnet/Pathway readiness through gap analysis and benchmarking outcomes. Works closely with CNO and senior nursing leadership to formulate and implement plans to close gaps and achieve targets.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; MSN or related health care related degree required. DNP preferred.

AND

Experience:

• Ten years of nursing experience required to include five years’ experience of hospital clinical practice and demonstrated leadership management capabilities.

• Five years of progressive experience in professional development.

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:

• Current RN licensure in state of practice, Nursing leadership certifications: NPD-BC, NE-BC, NEA-BC or equivalent preferred
