Railroad Field Supervisor

Starting Salary: $72,800/year, with higher compensation available based on experience
Position Summary
We are hiring a Railroad Field Supervisor to coordinate crews and oversee field operations involving railroad emergency response, railcar work, load adjustment and transfer, and track maintenance and construction.
This is a hands-on leadership position focused on safe job execution, crew performance, equipment readiness, accurate reporting, and communication with customers and regulatory personnel.
What You’ll Do
Direct daily activities and assign work to field crews.
Conduct safety meetings and enforce PPE, FRA, DOT, and company safety requirements.
Oversee field projects and assist with hands-on work and heavy equipment operations.
Communicate professionally with customers and regulatory agencies.
Complete payroll, equipment-use records, and project reports accurately.
Train, coach, and evaluate crew members.
Develop job quotes covering labor, equipment, and logistics.
Check equipment readiness and coordinate maintenance as needed.
Keep projects on schedule while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Required Skills & Experience
2+ years of railroad industry experience.
Working knowledge of FRA, DOT, and applicable safety regulations.
Strong leadership, communication, and crew-management abilities.
Experience using Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
Valid driver's license; CDL Class A or B preferred.
Heavy equipment operating experience, including cranes, excavators, or similar equipment.
Ability to read and understand load charts and rigging practices.
Ability to lead crews during demanding, time-sensitive field operations.
Strong organization, documentation, and reporting skills.
Work Requirements
Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Frequent travel and overnight stays are required.
Must be able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, walking on uneven terrain, and working extended hours.
Ability to work safely in active railroad and other field environments.
