About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer (QA Tester) to ensure software applications are thoroughly tested, reliable, and production-ready before release.

This role combines manual testing, test automation, regression testing, API and performance testing, defect management, and release validation. You’ll work closely with engineering and product teams throughout the software development lifecycle to identify issues early and prevent critical defects from reaching users.

You’ll own quality across new features, integrations, bug fixes, and releases while helping improve testing processes and automation coverage over time.

What You’ll Own

Test Planning & Coverage

• Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria
• Review requirements and user stories with product managers and developers
• Define appropriate test coverage across:
• New features
• Integrations
• Regression scenarios
• User workflows
• Translate product requirements into structured testing scenarios
• Identify potential risks and edge cases early in the development lifecycle
• Ensure critical workflows receive sufficient testing before release

Manual & Regression Testing

• Execute:
• Functional testing
• Regression testing
• UI/UX testing
• Cross-browser testing
• Cross-device testing
• Validate new features and bug fixes before production release
• Identify unexpected behaviors, functional issues, and usability problems
• Log defects using:
• Jira
• Azure DevOps
• Similar bug-tracking platforms
• Write clear bug reports including:
• Reproduction steps
• Expected behavior
• Actual results
• Supporting evidence
• Retest fixes and verify impacted functionality
• Run regression testing before major releases

Automation Testing

• Build and maintain automated test suites using:
• Selenium
• Cypress
• Playwright
• Identify high-value and repeatable test cases for automation
• Improve automation coverage over time
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using:
• GitHub Actions
• Jenkins
• GitLab CI
• Monitor automated test runs
• Investigate and troubleshoot failed automated tests
• Improve the reliability and maintainability of automated test suites

API, Performance & Security Testing

• Conduct load and stress testing using tools such as:
• Apache JMeter
• Locust
• Test APIs using:
• Postman
• RestAssured
• Validate API responses, integrations, and expected behaviors
• Identify performance bottlenecks and reliability issues
• Support vulnerability testing and remediation efforts where required
• Help ensure applications meet expected performance and security standards

Defect Management & Release Validation

• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution
• Collaborate with developers to reproduce and isolate issues
• Retest resolved defects before closure
• Assess the impact of fixes on related functionality
• Highlight unresolved issues and release risks before deployment
• Support final release validation to ensure critical workflows are production-ready

Documentation & Quality Reporting

• Maintain accurate:
• Test plans
• Test cases
• Test results
• Defect documentation
• Track quality metrics including:
• Defect density
• Test coverage
• Pass/fail rates
• Regression results
• Prepare clear quality reports for engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders
• Maintain visibility into testing progress and outstanding issues
• Clearly communicate release risks before deployment

Engineering & Product Collaboration

• Work closely with developers to reproduce, isolate, and resolve defects
• Participate in:
• Sprint planning
• Daily standups
• Retrospectives
• Release discussions
• Review requirements for clarity and testability
• Provide feedback on product usability and quality
• Advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle

Requirements

• 2+ years of QA or software testing experience
• Hands-on experience with manual and regression testing
• Experience with test management and bug-tracking tools such as:
• Jira
• TestRail
• Zephyr
• Familiarity with automation frameworks including:
• Selenium
• Cypress
• Playwright
• Strong understanding of:
• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Agile methodologies
• Functional testing
• Regression testing
• Ability to create structured test plans and test cases
• Ability to write clear and reproducible defect reports
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and product teams
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Availability during U.S. client business hours, with flexibility around releases, sprint deadlines, and testing windows

What a Typical Day Looks Like

You may start your day by reviewing new requirements and user stories to identify test scenarios, dependencies, and potential edge cases.

Throughout the day, you could write and update test cases, manually test new features, run regression suites, execute automated tests, test APIs, and document bugs.

You’ll collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues, retest fixes, review results from new builds, and maintain test documentation.

As a release approaches, you’ll help validate critical workflows and communicate outstanding defects or risks to engineering and product stakeholders.
