About the Opportunity 

The Public Programming and Exhibits Coordinator supports the Chief of Strategy and Programs other members of the Strategy and Programs team in coordinating and executing public programs and exhibit-related activities. The Public Programming and Exhibits Coordinator supports the development, coordination, and execution of public programs, exhibitions, and special initiatives that engage visitors, students, educators, community members, and other audiences. This position plays a key role in translating institutional priorities and exhibition content into meaningful, accessible, and engaging experiences for the public.

The Coordinator works collaboratively across departments and with external partners to manage program logistics, exhibition-related activities, communications, educational resources, and visitor experiences. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, creative, collaborative, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. The ideal candidate is an exceptional project manager who combines creativity and initiative with strong organizational skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and priorities.

Core Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Coordinates logistics for public programs and events by maintaining program calendars, timelines, checklists, and contact lists. Communicates with speakers, vendors, partners, and internal staff regarding logistics. Helps prepare program materials, registration information, schedules, and run-of-show documents. Provides on-site support during programs and events.

  • Assists with invoices, purchasing, contracts, and budget tracking.

  •  Assists with exhibit installations, openings, programs, signage, and related activities, such as assisting with exhibit schedules, checklists, inventories, signage, labels, promotional materials, and other project documentation. Support the planning, installation, maintenance, and deinstallation of temporary exhibitions and exhibit-related programming.

Minimum Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, education, public programming, communications, event management, history, arts administration, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of American history, public history, civic engagement, or related subject matter.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and proven ability to manage multiple events in various phases of planning and execution.
  • Ability to proactively anticipate project needs, meet deadlines, discern work priorities, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to problem solve, multi-task, as well as utilize good judgment and a high level of discretion.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate, cooperate, and delegate pleasantly and effectively with multiple departments.
  • Experience planning and producing in-person, virtual, and hybrid (virtual and in-person) events.
  • Basic understanding and familiarity of audio-visual equipment and systems
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as events demand.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Our best estimate of the compensation for this opportunity is $45,000 annually. This range is based on Little Rock market rates.  We look forward to discussing our compensation pricing strategy and your expectations throughout the interview process.
