NorthWest Arkansas Community College is seeking qualified applicants to establish a pool for part-time and/or substitute instructors to teach Communication: Film Arts. Part-time faculty may be expected to teach and manage a full course in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats as needed. Essential Duties:

• Teach introductory and transfer-level Communication and Film Arts courses in person, hybrid, or online; schedules vary, and hiring may not be immediate.

• Prepare course syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials.

• Use varied teaching strategies and discussions to promote active learning.

• Assess coursework promptly, communicate progress, and submit grades on time.

• Maintain accurate course and student records in accordance with FERPA.

• Contacts students outside the classroom due to student absence to relay information related to class work and assignments

• Maintains current knowledge in the field, vocation or profession

• Promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress

• Demonstrate an interest in using current and emerging technologies in the classroom and/or in online teaching

• Support the academic area and College through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members

• Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and college

Rate of Pay: $875 per Credit Hour

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or higher in Film Studies, Cinema Studies, Communication, or Mass Communication
• Master’s Degree or higher in a related area and possessing a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Film, Cinema, or Media Studies courses

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching in higher education

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience with leadership at a community college or educational institution is a plus

• Demonstrated teaching ability is the top priority

• Instructional experience and leadership experience at a community college is a priority

• Ability to use an on-line platform

• On-line delivery of instruction, use of technology for instruction, and experience or interest in project based, service learning, or inquiry based learning will be given special consideration

• Use of technology for instruction
