Job Description

Purpose: Provide planning and technical support for projects and equipment while participating in a structured rotational engineering program designed to develop cross-functional expertise in manufacturing, process improvement, capital project management, maintenance, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

1.   Provide technical support to manufacturing for capability issues, technical improvements, and processing improvements.

2.   Work with others to develop and implement capital projects that will reduce costs and improve operating efficiency.

Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of assigned engineering projects. Cooperating and communicating with the project manager and other project participants and collaborating with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability

3.   Provide engineering support for new equipment upgrades and other special projects by coordinating project execution, monitoring budgets and schedules, reviewing layouts and specifications, evaluating contractor and team performance, and delivering regular project status updates to key stakeholders.

4.   Ensure projects are compliant with applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards and specifications. (ANSI standards, ISO Standards, OSHA Standards)

Comply wit all company Environment Health and Safety and Department of Health requirements.

5. Identify improvement opportunities and use a data driven approach to quantify the improvement, develop timelines, and develop budgets.

6.   Prioritize machine/mold issues

7. Research and evaluate new technologies as they pertain to the manufacturing process.

8. Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials, and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to the clients.

Authorities:

1.   Request capital project funds using the Lotus Notes CapEx database

2.   Enter purchase requisitions and manage capital spending using JD Edwards software

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technically related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined abiding by all Amcor codes of ethics, safety policies and rules.
  • Able to work independently and with others.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems is preferred.
  • Basic trouble shooting skills within a production environment is preferred.
  • Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of design and visualization software
  • Experience with 2-D and 3-D Modeling is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in developing a broad manufacturing and engineering skill set.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments, processes, and project assignments.
  • Willingness and ability to rotate through multiple engineering and operational disciplines within the Evansville area.

Physical Expectations:

  • Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.
  • Stereo optical vision of 20/40 or better and peripheral vision of 70 degrees or greater and ability to read 10–12-point font at a distance of 12-18 inches.
  • Able to see and identify colors. (Complete an “Ishihara” color Vision Test)
  • Able to use both hands for effective manipulation of tools/parts.
  • Ability to work at heights (with or without fall protection).
