THE OPPORTUNITY
The Project Architect will lead the planning, design, and technical delivery of aviation facilities in active operational environments. The role may support terminals, concourses, passenger-processing areas, support buildings, or modernization programs, balancing passenger experience, security, code, constructability, phasing, and airport operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead projects from programming and concept design through documentation, permitting, and construction administration
- Coordinate passenger flow, operational requirements, security boundaries, accessibility, code, and life-safety strategies
- Manage interdisciplinary teams spanning architecture, interiors, structural, civil, MEP, technology, baggage, security, and specialty systems
- Develop and maintain Revit models, drawing packages, specifications, schedules, and technical details
- Facilitate meetings with airport staff, airlines, agencies, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Plan phased work within occupied or continuously operating airport environments
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, perform site observations, and resolve construction issues
- Manage scope, fee, schedule, risk, quality, and team performance for assigned work
REQUIREMENTS
- Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program
- 7+ years of architectural experience, including leadership of technically complex projects
- Professional architecture license preferred; required where serving in a responsible charge role
- Advanced Revit skills and strong knowledge of multidisciplinary BIM coordination
- Experience with aviation, transportation, civic, healthcare, or other large public facilities preferred
- Knowledge of building codes, accessibility, life safety, security coordination, and construction administration
- Strong client leadership, organization, communication, and technical judgment
