Within this context, the Head of Agentic AI is responsible for driving the strategic design, development, and scaling of agentic AI capabilities across the COO and Retail domains, with a strong focus on core businesses such as Mortgages, FCFP, Lending, Business Banking. The role focuses on building next-generation intelligent systems that enhance operational efficiency and enable improvements in productivity, speed, and customer experience.
By leading a portfolio of transformative generative and agentic AI initiatives, this role delivers bank wide impact on process optimization, cost efficiency, growth, and scalability across end-to-end value chains. The Head of Agentic AI ensures solutions are robust, accurate, and aligned with ING’s broader digital transformation and growth ambitions, while actively shaping the bank’s position in this rapidly evolving domain.
The Opportunity
The Head of Agentic AI plays a critical role in positioning ING at the forefront of agentic AI innovation by translating emerging technological capabilities into scalable, bank wide solutions.
Operating across global domains and stakeholders, this role drives the formulation and implementation of the Agentic AI strategy, ensuring alignment with ING’s growth ambitions and enabling more efficient operations across key business areas. The role requires continuous alignment between business priorities, technological evolution, and regulatory constraints.
By contributing to the transition towards an analytics-driven organization—with agentic AI delivery at its core—the role enables structural improvements in productivity, cost efficiency, and customer experience. At the same time, the role acts as a leading expert within the ING Data & Analytics organization, guiding how agentic AI is designed, positioned, and scaled across the bank.
Your Responsibilities
As Head of Agentic AI, you are responsible for:
Formulating and implementing the Agentic AI strategy bank wide Drive the positioning, design, and execution of the Agentic AI strategy, translating it into scalable solutions across key business domains to enable efficient operations and business growth.
Leading delivery of bank wide Agentic AI solutions Drive the development, piloting, and scaling of agentic AI use cases, delivering measurable impact on process optimization, productivity, cost efficiency, and customer experience.
Acting as a bank wide expert in Agentic AI Serve as a key specialist within the Data & Analytics organization, shaping the application, design, and evolution of agentic AI capabilities across ING.
Driving the transition towards an analytics-driven organization Embedding agentic AI into core processes and value chains, enabling adoption across business and technology stakeholders.
Building and leading high-performing teams Develop and lead fast-paced, diverse, and high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and delivery within targeted time-to-market cycles
Ensuring solution quality and governance Ensure solutions are robust and accurate, and operate within regulatory, risk, and governance frameworks, balancing innovation with control.
Leading exploration of emerging technologies Continuously assess and adopt new developments in the fast-moving agentic AI domain, ensuring ING remains at the forefront and leverages technologies that provide competitive advantage.
Your Competencies
We are looking for an expert leader with a strong combination of deep domain expertise, strategic vision, and execution capabilities:
Educational background – Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics) or equivalent through experience. An MBA or equivalent is a plus to support strategic leadership and stakeholder management.
Relevant experience – Extensive experience in advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning, including leading teams in fast-paced, technology-driven environments. Proven track record in designing and delivering complex, scalable AI and analytics solutions in industry settings. Experience operating in international and matrixed environments and managing global operating models.
Strong execution – Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale AI solutions and translate strategy into measurable business outcomes in complex environments.
Advanced problem-solving capability – Ability to design and orchestrate agentic solutions, deal with complexity, and drive operational excellence.
Team player and leadership capability – Proven ability to build, develop, and lead diverse, high-performing teams, while collaborating effectively with business stakeholders to drive adoption.
Pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset – Balances innovation in agentic AI with business needs, regulatory boundaries, risk management, and governance requirements.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management – Able to clearly articulate complex AI concepts, risks, and value propositions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
