An opportunity has arisen in our Cambridge based Operations team for a Procurement Assistant. Our Operations team are responsible for manufacturing, kit assembly, purchasing, distribution, health & safety and facilities management coordination for the Cambridge facility to ensure the business objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

The Procurement Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Procurement function, helping to ensure purchase orders, supplier information and purchasing records are managed accurately and on time.

What you’ll be doing for us

• Raise, check, update and progress purchase orders in line with approved requests and procedures
• Maintain accurate supplier, item, pricing, order and delivery information in the ERP/MRP system and associated records
• Monitor open orders, obtain supplier updates and communicate delivery status, shortages or delays to relevant colleagues
• Contact suppliers to request quotations, order confirmations, delivery information and routine documentation
• Support the purchasing of approved goods and services, including consumables, packaging, laboratory materials and operational supplies
• Check purchase order, delivery note and invoice information, and support resolution of discrepancies with suppliers, Finance and internal requestors
• Support supplier onboarding and maintenance of approved supplier information and documentation
• Assist with basic price, lead-time and availability comparisons and escalate significant cost, supply or quality concerns
• Maintain organised procurement records and provide information required for audits, reporting and operational planning
• Work with Production, Quality, Finance, Warehouse and other departments to ensure purchasing requirements are understood and progressed
• Support stock availability and supply continuity activities by highlighting potential shortages or delays promptly
• Contribute to procurement process improvements and support implementation of new systems or working practices
• Adhere to procedures documented in the quality management system and report non-compliances using approved procedures.

What we are looking for in you

Essential

• Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, administration or a similar operational support role
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when entering and checking information
• Confident written and verbal communication skills, including professional communication with suppliers and colleagues
• Competence using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel, and confidence learning business systems
• Ability to follow procedures, maintain clear records and escalate issues appropriately.

Desirable

• Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, administration or a similar operational support role
• Familiarity with regulated IVD, ISO 13485 or similar quality management environments
• Experience using ERP or MRP systems to raise and manage purchase orders
• Experience working in a regulated manufacturing, laboratory, medical device, diagnostics or life sciences environment
• Understanding of basic procurement principles, supplier management and stock control
• Experience supporting invoice matching, supplier onboarding or audit documentation.

This is a part-time role, working up to 25 hours per week.
