Job Description

The Private Wealth Associate will support the growth of the RMBN AM’s Assets Under Management (AUM) by originating, nurturing and converting relationships with High-Net Worth (HNI) and Ultra-High Net Worth (UHNI) clients, serving as a trusted partner to provide them with personalized wealth management solutions aligned with their financial goals. The role requires a combination of origination, relationship management, financial advisory expertise, and a deep understanding of RMBN AM’s investment offerings.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the successful candidate will play a central role in executing the sales and client acquisition strategy, driving client retention, and positioning the firm's investment product offerings within Nigeria's asset management and broader Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:

  • Identify, prospect, and onboard new HNI/ UHNI clients

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with clients, acting as their primary advisor

  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews with clients, ensuring alignment with their financial objectives.

Investment Advisory & Portfolio Management:

  • Conduct financial needs assessments and risk profiling.

  • Develop tailored financial strategies across all asset classes.

  • Structure and recommend appropriate investment solutions leveraging RMBN AM’s platform.

  • Monitor client portfolios, ensuring alignment with objectives and market conditions.

  • Provide regular performance updates and rebalancing recommendations.

Business Development: 

  • Achieve assigned Assets Under Management (AUM) growth targets.

  • Collaborate with product and investment teams to design innovative financial solutions that meet client needs.

  • Stay abreast of market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes.

  • Represent RMBN AM at client events, industry forums, and networking engagements to expand visibility and client reach.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure all advisory and sales activities comply with SEC regulations and company policies.

  • Adhere to KYC/AML requirements during client onboarding and throughout client relationships.

  • Maintain accurate client documentation and reporting records

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related fields.

  • 5 to 7 years relevant experience in business development, investment/relationship management or client-facing sales within asset management, banking or financial services.

  • Relevant professional certification (e.g. CFA, CIS) is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding sales/AUM growth targets.

  • Sound understanding of Nigerian capital market, money market, investment products and regulatory environment (SEC, CBN).

  • Highly skilled in managing and developing relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), providing tailored wealth management and investment solutions.

  • Ability to identify clients’ financial objectives and conduct comprehensive financial needs analysis to recommend suitable investment products in line with objectives.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and high-net-worth individuals.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market and portfolio data to inform client conversations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM systems.

  • Prepare and delivered professional client presentations, investment proposals, market outlook reports, and wealth management strategies to prospective and existing clients.

  • Design compelling client pitches and sales presentations that effectively communicate investment opportunities, resulting in increased assets under management and revenue growth

  • High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion in handling confidential client information.

  • Self-motivated, result-oriented and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client relationships and priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong sales and business development capabilities.

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Growth in AUM across assigned client portfolios and product lines.

  • Number of new client relationships originated and successfully onboarded.

  • Client retention rate and reduction in churn.

  • Quality and timeliness of CRM record-keeping and reporting.

  • Client satisfaction, including timely resolution of queries and complaints.
