Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Integration & Test Engineer (26-418) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based at Schriever Space Force Base, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System (MDS). It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both globally and regionally, to improve performance. C2BMC is also essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

As a System Integration Engineer on the C2BMC I&T team, you will integrate complex hardware and software, ensure end-to-end system performance, and collaborate across multiple organizations within the Missile Defense System to deliver mission-ready capabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Integrate C2BMC hardware and software into testbeds and operational systems, including configuration of virtual machines, networks, and message flows
  • Conduct full system checkouts, verify end-to-end functionality, and ensure readiness for test and operational events
  • Work with various internal and external entities across the Missile Defense System (MDS) to test, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures; document results and provide clear, actionable feedback to developers and stakeholders
  • Author Problem Reports (PRs) to document issues, track resolution, and support continuous improvement of system performance and reliability
  • Create and modify scripts to extract specific information from log files; perform data analysis of input/output and internal message traffic to identify trends, anomalies, and root causes
  • Operate and troubleshoot C2BMC systems during integration activities, ground tests, and other test events in both lab and operational environments
  • Participate in and support technical meetings with National Team groups, other MDS elements, and Government customers, providing system integration insight and technical recommendations
  • Collaborate in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and verify capabilities, features, and defect resolutions

Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Applicants must have a current, active Government-Issued 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their 8140 certifications throughout the entire contract period
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope Government-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • 3–5 years of prior experience as a system integrator, system administrator, or similar role supporting complex mission or enterprise systems.
  • Domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: Networking, Linux, and Windows
  • Self-starter with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with Government customers and personnel internal and external to the program
  • Fundamental troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand the hardware and software components running in a widely distributed, virtual environment
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct complex troubleshooting by analyzing application and system logs, network configurations, and interface documents
  • Non-standard work hours may be required on occasion, depending on test or fielding schedules
  • Hands-on experience with integration and test activities in distributed, virtualized, or cloud-like environments
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including the creation and management of capabilities, features, and Problem Reports (PRs) in Agile lifecycle tools
  • Position is based at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO (COS-M) and may require travel to fielded sites and National Team locations (e.g., Huntsville, AL; HWY83) as program needs dictate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS), including sensors, weapon systems (“shooters”), command and control systems, and supporting networks
  • Prior integration and test experience on the C2BMC program, including familiarity with C2BMC architectures, interfaces, and operational concepts
