Practice Supervisor - Vascular Surgery Service - Fresh Meadows Location (NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups) - Days

NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups (NYPMG) are part of the physician enterprise of NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic health care delivery systems affiliated with two world-renowned medical schools.  Through primary care and multispecialty medical practices, the physicians and other health care professionals of NYPMG, in collaboration with Columbia Doctors and Weill Cornell Physicians, provide families with high quality, patient-centered care close to home in the New York metropolitan area.

Hours: Full Time/Monday through Friday with hours between 8:00AM to 5:00PM

As a Practice Supervisor, you will help mentor, inspire and engage staff.  You will be responsible for daily operations, practice leadership and setting short-term and long-term goals for practice.

In this role the Practice Supervisor:

• Recommends personnel actions, including hiring and firing, and prepares written performance evaluations. Establishes baseline standards for meeting performance goals, and monitors and maintains work performance quality standards. May assign and/or schedule work, conducts on-the-job training and answer job-related questions.
• Interprets and implements medical group policies and procedures.  Supervises day-to-day operations to ensure effective delivery of practice services. Acts as liaison between department manager and staff.
• Contributes to the implementation of programs to improve the quality of departmental services. Maintains safety standards to ensure maximum protection for patients and staff.  Attends and participates in departmental meetings, as needed. 
• Assists in the development and implementation of approved systems to provide cost-effective management of practice activities (i.e., information retrieval, scheduling, and productivity).  May retrieve data using practice computer system, check output for accuracy and completeness and maintains on-line system support.
• Ensures timely and accurate flow of information to staff and senior management.  Also maintains effective communication with other medical group employees in related practices, when necessary to ensure efficient Medical Group operations.  May coordinate practice activities with patient care and other practice or hospital services.  Responds to practice related inquiries, address problems, take corrective action and refer unresolved matters to Practice Manager or appropriate others as necessary.
• Determines work schedules, including holiday and vacation time. May coordinate activities, tools, etc. with other practices, as necessary. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Collects information related to department operations and assist in the preparation of summaries and reports as required.  May gather data to aid in the creation of the departmental budget.
• May relieve Manager during temporary absences.
• Responsible for fostering a positive work environment where employees feel valued, motivated, and connected to the company's goals by designing and implementing initiatives like employee recognition programs, feedback mechanisms, team-building activities, and communication strategies, ultimately aiming to increase employee satisfaction and retention within the organization.
• Actively manages and improves the overall experience of patients, encompassing aspects like communication, empathy, addressing concerns, ensuring smooth appointment scheduling, and gathering feedback to identify areas for improvement.
• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Preferred Criteria

• Previous supervisory experience within healthcare
• Bachelor's degree

Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Associates Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 1+ years of work experience.
