What you'll do
Reporting to our Chief People Officer, you’ll lead People & Culture partnering across ANZ. You’ll lead and coach our P&C Partners, own the employee lifecycle from hire to exit, and make sure our leaders and LEAPsters get people support that’s fast, consistent and commercially sensible.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a business that moves fast. You’ll build, test and improve as you go – no long strategy papers, no endless meetings, no waiting for the perfect plan. The CPO sets the Group people strategy, and you make it real in ANZ. You’ll run a smooth operating rhythm, deliver the people calendar, manage risk and quality, and grow a team that does great work. Our P&C Partners own the relationships with our leaders and client groups – your job is to set them up to succeed.
To make this happen, you will:
- Lead the team – coach and develop our P&C Partners, set clear priorities, give them the tools and backing to succeed with their client groups, and hold a high bar on the quality of their work.
- Run the rhythm – own the ANZ people calendar – performance and salary reviews, engagement, onboarding, offboarding, and reward and recognition. Spot what’s not working and fix it fast – a good fix this week beats a perfect plan next quarter.
- Handle the complex stuff – back our P&C Partners as the senior escalation point for employee relations – performance, misconduct, grievances and restructures – with decisions that are fair, legally sound and well documented.
- Keep us compliant – own ANZ policies, procedures and process documentation, make sure they’re followed, and keep them current, practical and in line with Australian and New Zealand employment law.
- Know our talent – bring together a clear view of performance and potential across ANZ, so we know who our talent is and how to grow, stretch and support them. Make sure succession plans are in place for critical roles and that the actions we agree actually happen.
- Turn data into action – own ANZ people reporting – headcount, attrition, hiring and ER trends – and bring a clear view on what to do next.
What you'll bring
- You’ve owned P&C before – a function, a region or a big part of one – and you’ve led and grown a team of People professionals. How you work matters more to us than your title.
- You get on with it – you’d rather build something, test it and improve it than spend months planning. You act without waiting to be asked, and you don’t trade speed for quality.
- You make others shine – leaders trust your advice because it’s sound, consistent and grounded in how the business really works, and you’re happy for your Partners to be the ones they call first.
- You coach, not just manage – you build capability in others and lead with care and accountability.
- You know ER and employment law – confident with Australian employment law and complex ER, with New Zealand exposure (or the appetite to build it fast). You coach Partners and leaders through tricky situations, and you know when to bring in the experts.
- You make things run well – you build and document simple processes that make a People team reliable, and you notice when quality slips.
- You let data do the talking – you use numbers to prioritise, tell the story and drive better decisions.
