Job title: Paint Materials assistant
Position Overview:
The Paint Materials Assistant supports daily paint production by mixing paint and spraying color panels and color hits used for production and color matching. Working closely with the Paint Materials Lead and production painters, this person makes sure the right materials and color references are ready when they're needed. Paint mixing experience is preferred but not required. CPV will train someone who is detail oriented and eager to learn.
1st shift: 6:30 am -3:00 pm, M-F

Job type: temp-to-hire
Pay: $25 with experience; $22 for trainee
Duties:
- Mix paint for daily production using approved formulas and procedures, accurately weighing materials, following mixing ratios, and clearly labeling each mix for its intended job.
- Spray color panels that serve as the production floor's reference for color and appearance.
- Spray color hits and spray-out cards for color matching, review results with the Paint Materials Lead, and repeat as directed.
- Assist with color adjustments under the Lead's direction and document approved formulas, mixes, and panel identification.
- Coordinate with painters and the Lead to prioritize requests and raise material or color concerns before they affect production.
- Organize, label, and maintain color standard panels and stored materials so they're easy to find and retrieve.
- Monitor material levels, report inventory needs, and track paint usage to support ordering and reduce waste.
- Clean and maintain mixing and spray equipment, and keep mixing rooms and storage areas organized to CPV's 6S standards.
- Follow PPE, material handling, storage, and waste disposal procedures, and participate in safety and painter meetings.
- Support other departments as needed and build additional skills over time.
Requirements
- Paint mixing, automotive refinishing, or spray application experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow formulas and written procedures consistently.
- Comfort with basic math, precise measurement, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Ability to see differences in color and appearance and to learn consistent spray technique.
- Dependable and organized, with clear communication and openness to feedback.
