Why join us?
Established in 2018, North Pole Eyecare provides primary eye care and full-scope optometry in a welcoming, modern setting. Our seven-person team, including the owners, is committed to attentive, individualized care for a diverse and growing community. Clinical resources include automated screening, Zeiss OCT and visual field equipment, Optos imaging, ERG, topography, and fully equipped exam lanes.
What you'll do:
We are seeking a staff optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care, including management of medical ocular conditions in a patient population with a growing number of older adults. This is a 40-hour-per-week position in a busy, collaborative practice. Current volume is approximately 17–20 patients per doctor per day, with an anticipated reduction to about 15 per doctor when two optometrists are in the office. New graduates are welcome. Future ownership or partnership opportunities may be available.
Who you are:
A compassionate, personable optometrist who values clinical quality, clear communication, and teamwork. You should enjoy full-scope practice, be comfortable with a varied caseload, and take pride in building lasting patient relationships.
Why you'll love North Pole:
North Pole is part of the Fairbanks North Star Borough, with a close-knit community and ready access to fishing, hiking, hunting, boating, camping, skiing, and snowmachining. Life here is distinctly seasonal: summers bring exceptionally long daylight hours, but can be wet; spring and fall are often brief. Winters are long and very cold, with limited daylight in December and January. For individuals and families who appreciate outdoor recreation, independence, and the realities of Interior Alaska living, the region offers a distinctive place to put down roots.
You'll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
- Paid time off
- Continuing education allowance
- Malpractice insurance
- Licensing fees
- 401(k)
- Potential production bonus
Qualifications
