Inside the Role

The Operations / Facility & Event Support Technician serves as a technical leader responsible for maintaining facility readiness, supporting proving grounds operations, coordinating customer events, ensuring safety compliance, and managing site infrastructure at the High Desert Proving Grounds (HDPG). This role ensures facilities, equipment, and test track operations remain safe, reliable, and customer-ready while supporting vehicle development and operational excellence.

 Position offers a starting hourly range of $31.25 to $39.90 USD 

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience​

What You Drive at DTNA

Facility Operations & Infrastructure

• Maintain buildings, grounds, and proving grounds infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and coordinate repairs for facility systems and utilities.
• Manage preventive maintenance programs and facility improvement projects.
• Oversee critical systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, security, and access controls.
• Support budgeting activities, vendor sourcing, and facility documentation.

Event & Customer Support

• Lead site preparation for customer events, executive visits, vehicle demonstrations, and tours.
• Coordinate event logistics, vehicle staging, transportation, charging, fueling, and display readiness.
• Provide technical support during events and ensure a world-class customer experience.

Proving Grounds Operations

• Support daily operations of test tracks, durability roads, loop roads, and related infrastructure.
• Conduct facility and track inspections and coordinate maintenance activities.
• Operate and oversee equipment such as forklifts, snowplows, excavators, and material handling equipment.
• Support engineering and vehicle test teams by maintaining operational readiness.

Safety & Compliance

• Lead safety initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory and company standards.
• Perform and coordinate inspections of fire systems, gas detection systems, cranes, forklifts, and other safety-critical equipment.
• Participate in emergency response activities, audits, risk assessments, and safety reviews.
• Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to improve workplace safety.

Vendor & Contractor Management

• Coordinate contractors and service providers supporting facility and site operations.
• Monitor contractor performance for safety, quality, and schedule compliance.
• Manage vendors supporting maintenance, security, landscaping, EV charging infrastructure, and track operations.
• Serve as a liaison between site operations and corporate facility organizations.

Continuous Improvement

• Drive initiatives that improve facility reliability, operational efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
• Lead projects that reduce downtime and operational costs.
• Support Lean, Total Production Maintenance, and continuous improvement programs.

 

Knowledge You Should Bring

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CDL or ability to obtain CDL certification.
• 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial operations, proving grounds, construction, or technical operations.
• Experience managing contractors and vendors.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and material handling equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

 

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

• Associate degree or technical certification in facilities, maintenance, construction, or industrial operations.
• Experience in automotive testing, proving grounds, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and facility systems.
• Experience using maintenance management systems (SAP, Fleetio, MaintainX, JERA).
• OSHA, NFPA, safety compliance, project leadership, and Lean/Continuous Improvement experience.
