This is a part-time, event based, union, hourly position paying $21.66 per hour.

Job Summary
Operations Department Team Members are responsible for supporting the successful execution of events at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum by ensuring the facility is properly prepared, operational, clean, safe, and ready to meet the needs of guests, clients, performers, and event personnel. Team members assist with event setups, conversions, changeovers, facility operations, and other event-related tasks while working collaboratively with Operations leadership and other venue departments.
The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and team-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks, follow directions, and respond effectively to changing operational needs. Candidates must be comfortable performing physically demanding work, working in a fast-paced environment, and completing assignments with minimal supervision while maintaining professionalism and composure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, conversion, changeover, and breakdown of event spaces and facility areas.
- Prepare the venue for events according to established operational plans, schedules, and procedures.
- Assist with the movement, placement, setup, and removal of equipment, furniture, barricades, stanchions, tables, chairs, signage, and other event-related materials.
- Perform routine operational tasks to ensure event spaces and facility areas are properly prepared and maintained.
- Follow instructions from Operations Managers, Supervisors, and designated event leadership.
- Complete assigned tasks accurately, safely, and within established timelines.
- Respond promptly to changing events and operational needs and adjust assignments as directed.
- Work collaboratively with Operations staff and other venue departments to support the successful execution of events.
- Assist with training staff on basic job functions, procedures, and operational responsibilities as assigned.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform a variety of duties and transition between assignments without losing efficiency, focus, or composure.
- Follow all venue operating policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Use appropriate safety practices when operating equipment, moving materials, or performing physical tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality of patron, employee, client, event, and company information.
- Communicate operational concerns, safety hazards, equipment issues, or other facility needs to the appropriate Manager or Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior event conversion, requisition, setup, changeover, or breakdown experience required.
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent attendance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English in a professional working environment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform effectively during high-pressure situations and maintain composure during emergencies or unexpected operational challenges.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond appropriately to changing event needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patron, employee, client, and company information.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for scheduled shifts.
- Previous job-related training or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position preferred.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, approximately 90% of the work shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, reach, grasp, bend, stoop, and maneuver equipment and materials.
- Ability to safely lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more, with or without assistance or appropriate equipment, as required by the assignment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work in crowded, fast-paced, and changing event environments.
- Ability to safely perform assigned duties, while maintaining awareness of surroundings and other personnel.
- Employees may be assigned to work indoors or outdoors and may be exposed to varying weather conditions.
- Employees may be scheduled to work late evening or overnight shifts, including shifts ending at 12:00 AM or later.
- Must follow all applicable safety policies and procedures and use appropriate precautions when performing physical or operational tasks.
- Tasks are performed with moderate supervision.
- Work schedules vary based on the event calendar and operational requirements.
- Employees must be available to work required shifts on various days of the week, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days.
- The position requires flexibility to work before, during, and after events, including event conversions and changeovers.
- Employees may work in areas with elevated noise levels, crowds, moving equipment, and other active event-production conditions.
- Employees are expected to maintain a professional, safety-conscious attitude throughout all assignments.
