The opportunity:

As part of the EMEA Accounting team in Amsterdam, we are opening a role for an Operations Controller – a hands-on leader for accounting, control, and finance automation across 15+ countries. This is an opportunity to build modern finance operations in a fast-growing multinational environment, as part of a team that is shaping and learning from the new world of autonomous finance firsthand; a genuinely unique opportunity to get ahead of the market. The role requires a strong grasp of financial reporting and VAT principles, sharp analytical thinking, and the professional judgment needed to lead across stakeholders and time zones under pressure.

You will:

• Own full monthly close timeliness, completeness and accuracy across a growing multi-entity footprint, overseeing standardized schedules and checklists that scale as entity count grows.
• Own accuracy of local Revenue and COGS, including transfer pricing calculations based on approved methodology.
• Control cost, balance sheet and liquidity through among others OPEX and T&E challenge, financial anomaly investigation, deposits and cash flow review.
• Build and deliver automation roadmap for the Accounting function within and outside the ERP by identifying manual, repeatable work and sequencing its removal.
• Enforce correct output and input VAT recording end-to-end, based on strong technical acumen on EU and international VAT principles.
• Drive corrective actions across internal and external stakeholders to enforce correct financial and VAT accountingImplement e-invoicing readiness for local continuous transaction control mandates.
• Partnership with Business to capture new commercial models and contract structures before they hit the ledger, embedding them into standard accounting workflows; with FP&A to sharpen figures and inputs feeding their reporting models; and with other back office functions (Legal, People, Workplace) on recurring compliance, bookings, and ad hoc initiatives.
• Provide leadership through supervising and developing the Accounting team.

You should have: 

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and operational finance experience in a high-growth company.
• Experience working in a multinational setting with cross-border reporting needs.
• Strong background in GAAP, financial reporting and ERP systems.
• Proven experience with applying VAT rules and VAT accounting across Europe.
• Top level proficiency in deploying and overseeing automated finance tools, agent frameworks and modern financial data stacks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to coordinate across departments and manage external relationships.
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization and planning skills, and keen attention to detail.
