Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a (On-Call/Casual) Sr. Principal Maritime Test Engineer in support of our Stevensville, MD Field-site location for our Annapolis, MD based team.

This position will be an On-Call/Casual Technical Position. The salary range is based on a full-time schedule and will be prorated to the extent the schedule is reduced.

What You’ll get to Do:

Join an organization providing maritime test capabilities for the development, assessment and demonstration of NGC products and systems.

In this role, your responsibilities for Northrop Grumman owned research vessels will be as follows:

• Conduct development test activities aboard ship in the Chesapeake Bay, Delaware Bay, and North Atlantic.
• Responsible for activities leading up to mission events: Pre-test planning, safety operations assessments, cost and logistics. 
• Responsible for leading deck operations, to include, rigging and critical lift.
• Responsible for all engineering activities for vessel modifications, installations of units under test on ships and boats, including mechanical, electrical and cooling requirements. 
• Work on data recording, telemetry and commercial maritime systems instrumentation. 

In addition, you will get to work in the following environment(s):

• Open water test environment with test participants including onshore test sites, other maritime assets, real time operations with NG test aircraft, ROV/UUV, towed arrays and littoral targets. 
• Within Northrop Grumman, USCG and DOW requirements.
• Aboard vessels up to 100 tons or greater. Other maritime duties, as assigned. 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree and 8 years of relevant experience; Masters degree and 6 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience in Commercial/DOW Maritime.
• Proven background in Sonar, Radar, Navigation, Deck Operations, and/or System Test and Evaluation.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, unassisted.
• Willingness to work, year round, on open water aboard ship.
• U.S. citizenship required and must have the ability to obtain/maintain program specific clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI W/Poly
• USCG License of 100 Ton or grater
• Knowledge of ROV/ UUV operation and implementation
• Experience Aircraft radar operation and theory
• Detailed experience Electrical design and troubleshooting 
• Detailed knowledge with test evolution planning and execution
• Background with Military test and operations
• Certifications or equivalent experience with Gas/Diesel powerplants (inboard and Outboard), Electrical and Hydraulic systems
• STCW

Primary Level Salary Range: $123,400.00 - $185,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
