Hiring Range:

$106,080.00 - $190,944.00

(based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Pediatric Trauma Program Lead Coordinator to provide clinical and administrative leadership for our pediatric trauma program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary program dedicated to delivering exceptional pediatric trauma care while advancing quality, safety, education, performance improvement, and injury prevention initiatives.

The Pediatric Trauma Program Manager oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the pediatric trauma program. This role ensures compliance with state, regional, and national trauma standards, including American College of Surgeons verification requirements, while partnering with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and advance trauma care delivery.

The Program Manager serves as a clinical leader, educator, and collaborator across the continuum of pediatric trauma care. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, EMS providers, hospital leadership, residents, and community partners, this individual plays a critical role in maintaining a high-performing, accredited pediatric trauma program and ensuring the highest standards of care for pediatric trauma patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide continuity of care for trauma and general surgery pediatric patients while in-patient and followed in clinic.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of the pediatric trauma program.
  • Ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons, state, and regulatory trauma standards and verification requirements.
  • Partner with physicians, APPs, nursing leadership, EMS, and hospital administration to achieve program goals and improve patient outcomes.
  • Direct the Pediatric Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program, including case reviews, quality monitoring, and corrective action planning.
  • Analyze trauma data, outcomes, and TQIP reports to identify trends and drive evidence-based quality initiatives.
  • Oversee trauma registry operations, ensuring accurate data collection, benchmarking, reporting, and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate trauma education, competency validation, simulations, and continuing education programs for clinical staff, residents, and trainees.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor, promoting best practices, patient safety, family-centered care, and evidence-based pediatric trauma care.
  • Lead injury prevention initiatives and collaborate with community organizations, schools, EMS agencies, and public health partners.
  • Maintain readiness for trauma verification reviews and present program outcomes to leadership while fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and regional trauma partners.

Key Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Massachusetts PA or NP license, national certification (NCCPA, AANP, or ANCC), DEA registration, and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in pediatric trauma, emergency medicine, critical care, surgery, or trauma program management.
  • Experience with quality improvement, regulatory compliance, trauma registries, performance improvement, and data analysis preferred.
  • Relevant trauma, emergency, critical care, or quality-focused certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, community stakeholders, and regulatory agencies in a dynamic healthcare environment.
