Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. The Nigeria program, established in 2018, is headquartered in Minna, Niger state. We're currently serving over 100,000 unique farmers across the state via our inputs on credit 'Core' program, inputs on cash 'Retail' program, and have a free tree seedling distribution 'Agroforestry' program. About the Role
Seeking an exceptional commercial strategist with 3-5+ years of experience in agri-business modelling and financial analysis to drive dual-sided revenue for smallholder farmers and One Acre Fund by scaling paid tree offerings across all locations.
Responsibilities
Revenue Strategy
- Design, iterate, and own the long-term Trees Revenue Strategy, establishing viable monetization pathways
for tree-based products and services. - Develop frameworks to define paid program offerings, pricing structures, delivery mechanisms, and unit economics across diverse farmer segments.
- Build robust financial models to evaluate business viability, margin profiles, and return on investment for
both OAF and participating smallholder farmers. - Explore and pilot alternative revenue streams, such as carbon finance integration, high-value
timber/non-timber product monetization, and fruit aggregation.
Farmer Integration
- Design and execute a cross-selling and conversion strategy targeting a minimum 30% adoption rate of secondary OAF products (credit, cash products, extension, and market aggregation) among Trees program farmers.
- Collaborate with FOPs, Product Innovations, and Market Access units on viable pathways to bundle tree offerings with core agricultural inputs and financial products.
- Map farmer journeys and conversion funnels to identify touchpoints, drop-off risks, and incentive structures that drive cross-unit product adoption.
Market Aggregation & Value Chain Linking
- Partner with Market Access and commercial teams to design sustainable off-take, aggregation, and market linkages for tree fruits and timber.
- Analyze regional value chains to identify market demand, quality specifications, and pricing dynamics that maximize farmer margins.
- Test scalable delivery and aggregation models that reduce transaction costs for rural logistics and buyer connection.
Pilot Execution & Strategic Frameworks
- Lead high-priority commercial pilots from concept to validation, defining KPIs, testing hypotheses, and measuring revenue outcomes in field settings.
- Translate pilot learnings into scalable standard operating frameworks, playbooks, and strategic recommendations for program leadership.
- Conduct willingness-to-pay assessments, pricing sensitivity studies, and market research to inform product positioning.
Stakeholder Alignment & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Present strategic business cases, conversion data, and revenue projections to executive leadership and department leads to secure cross-functional buy-in.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- 5-6 years of relevant professional work experience, including leading teams or entrepreneurial experience (e.g. starting a new program, department or launching new projects).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Finance, Development Economics, Economics, Strategic Management, or a related commercial field.
- Preferred: MBA or Master’s degree in Agribusiness, Finance, International Development, or Sustainable Commerce; formal certifications in Commercial Strategy or Financial Modeling.
- Experience managing projects that involve scaling up.
- Experience implementing strategies based on field data and programmatic evidence.
- Financial Modeling: Strong proficiency in Excel/financial tools to build unit economic models, pricing sensitivity analyses, and revenue projections.
- Business Strategy & Go-To-Market Design: Proven ability to create monetization frameworks, product bundling strategies, and go-to-market plans for rural market segments.
- Market Systems & Value Chain Analysis: Understanding of agricultural market linkages, smallholder supply chains, off-take arrangements, and carbon/agroforestry monetization models.
- Pilot Design & Human-Centered Research: Ability to design field tests, execute pricing experiments, conduct customer/farmer surveys, and iterate based on quantitative/qualitative data.
