We are seeking a New Business Developer position based at our global headquarters in Hedehusene, Denmark, to join the New Businesses team.

Ready to help build a better future for generations to come?

In an ever-changing, fast paced world, we owe it to ourselves and our future generations to live responsibly. At ROCKWOOL, we work relentlessly to enrich modern living through our innovative stone wool solutions.

Join us and make a difference!

Your future team

You will become part of the ROCKWOOL New Businesses team, our innovation and growth engine. Guided by our mission of "Releasing the natural power of stone to enrich modern living," we leverage ROCKWOOL's global brand and footprint to identify, build, and scale entirely new businesses that extend stone wool's impact beyond our core business. You will be joining a small, close-knit, highly autonomous team of entrepreneurial colleagues who back each other up while each driving their own ventures forward independently.

What you will be doing

You will take ownership of identifying, building, and scaling new business ventures from early-stage exploration through commercial launch. Working closely with R&D for product development purpose and cross-functional stakeholders to leverage Group capabilities, you'll drive hands-on business development, from customer discovery and market validation through to building scalable, commercially viable businesses. Like any venture-building environment, some projects will fail and others will succeed; learning from both is part of the journey. You will report to the Director of ROCKWOOL New Businesses.

Key responsibilities

  • Ideation & market validation: Bring an outside-in perspective to identify and explore new business opportunities, validate real commercial demand through customer discovery and pilot projects
  • Business building & commercialization: Take ownership of developing winning business models, value propositions and go-to-market strategies, driving ventures from validation through to scalable, commercially viable businesses
  • Business case & buy-in: Develop compelling investment cases and communicate your vision internally to secure approval and resources from senior stakeholders
  • Partnerships: Scout, engage and build relationships with external partners - startups, research labs, innovation hubs, universities and early-adoption customers
  • Cross-functional execution: Work with R&D, patents, operations, marketing, finance, and legal departments to leverage group capabilities
  • Independent ownership: Drive initiatives forward with a high degree of autonomy, using the wider New Businesses team for sparring and support
  • Strategic support: Contribute strategic thinking and analysis to scale and strengthen existing new businesses, and support the overall Group strategy

What you bring

  • Qualification: Master's degree from a top-tier university or business school
  • Business development experience: Proven track record of building or scaling new businesses within a large corporation, venture capital, corporate strategy, consulting or startup roles; ideally with experience across the full venture lifecycle from ideation through commercialization
  • Commercial acumen & strategic thinking: Strong commercial judgment and strategic perspective; ability to identify customer value, define revenue models, build robust business cases, assess market dynamics, and see how new ventures fit into broader strategic opportunities
  • Technical literacy: While not required to be a technical expert, you have a strong ability to understand and engage with technical concepts, work effectively with R&D, and translate commercial opportunities into technical requirements
  • Communication & presentation skills: Excellent ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, build compelling narratives, and present your vision persuasively to senior stakeholders and external partners
  • Autonomy & initiative: A strong self-starter who thrives working independently and taking ownership of ambiguous problems while valuing sparring and collaboration with the team
  • Relationship building & influence: Natural ability to establish trust, engage diverse stakeholders, and build strong working relationships across functions and with external partners
  • Mindset: Entrepreneurial, resilient, comfortable with ambiguity; strong English communication; international experience preferred

What we offer

Join a dynamic and international team where bold ideas meet real impact. We combine the strength and scale of a global brand with the agility and creativity of a startup-style team, and offer the freedom to explore, experiment, and shape the future of our business, with sustainability at the heart of everything we do. Backed by the resources of a global organization, you’ll work at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and execution, surrounded by curious minds and driven doers. If you're ready to challenge the status quo and create meaningful change, we’ve got a seat for you.
