Sobre este puesto de Network & Deskside Support Administrator en Leidos

Leidos · Presencial · Washington, DC

Leidos has an opening for a Network & Deskside Support Administrator to support a Department of Justice program in the District of Columbia under them. The program provides a broad range of IT services to the customer, including network operations, endpoint support, and end-user technical assistance.

This position is designed as a flexible, hands-on technical role supporting two small teams. The successful candidate will divide their responsibilities between junior network administration and on-site deskside/end-user support, adjusting priorities based on operational needs.

This is a primarily on-site position, with an expected schedule of approximately 80% on-site and 20% telework, based on customer requirements and operational needs.

The ideal candidate is a versatile IT professional who is comfortable troubleshooting a user's workstation one moment and supporting LAN, WiFi, network monitoring, or secure access technologies the next. The position will work closely with network engineers, system administrators, service desk personnel, security personnel, and customer stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain reliable IT services.

The role provides an opportunity to develop deeper network administration skills while remaining closely engaged with users and the day-to-day operation of the customer's IT environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Network Administration and Operations

  • Support the administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the customer's local area network (LAN) and WiFi environment.
  • Assist with configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of network infrastructure, including switches, gateways, wireless access points, and related network components.
  • Support a network environment based primarily on Ubiquiti UniFi technologies.
  • Monitor network infrastructure and assist with identifying and resolving performance, availability, and connectivity issues.
  • Assist with configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UniFi network devices, wireless access points, switches, gateways, and management platforms.
  • Review network alerts, logs, dashboards, and reports and escalate or resolve identified issues as appropriate.
  • Assist with network monitoring, performance troubleshooting, capacity analysis, and proactive identification of potential service issues.
  • Support administration and troubleshooting of Zscaler technologies, including Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX), and Zscaler Client Connector.
  • Assist senior technical staff with configuration and maintenance of Zscaler Zero Trust policies and associated infrastructure.
  • Support maintenance and monitoring of UPS battery backup systems associated with network infrastructure.
  • Assist with network security upgrades and activities supporting the customer's Zero Trust security posture.
  • Develop and maintain network topology diagrams, configuration documentation, operating procedures, and other technical documentation.
  • Participate in evaluations of network monitoring and management technologies as required.
  • Work with senior engineers and technical leads when troubleshooting complex network issues or implementing significant infrastructure changes.

Deskside and End-User Support

  • Provide on-site deskside technical support for customer personnel.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and replace laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, peripherals, and related end-user equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Windows operating system, application, authentication, connectivity, printing, and peripheral issues.
  • Assist users with wired, wireless, VPN, Zscaler, and other network connectivity issues.
  • Support Microsoft Intune and Entra ID-related endpoint and access management activities.
  • Configure and deploy laptops and other end-user devices in accordance with customer standards.
  • Assist with user onboarding, equipment deployment, office moves, hardware refreshes, and equipment replacement.
  • Diagnose issues and determine whether resolution belongs with deskside support, networking, systems administration, security, or another technical team.
  • Coordinate escalations and work with other program teams through resolution.
  • Maintain accurate ticket documentation and provide users with timely status updates.
  • Review, resolve, and close incidents, service requests, and change requests within established service-level agreements.
  • Follow up with users and support teams to confirm successful resolution of technical issues.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support both the network and deskside support teams as workload and operational priorities require.
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence to provide hands-on infrastructure and end-user support.
  • Collaborate with customer personnel, internal Leidos teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other technical organizations.
  • Attend customer and internal technical meetings as required.
  • Provide weekly reporting regarding operational issues, support activities, projects, and significant technical events.
  • Assist with development of various dashboards and presentations supporting operational reporting.
  • Follow established change management, incident management, configuration management, and cybersecurity processes.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and recommend opportunities to improve reliability, supportability, and the end-user experience.
  • Maintain awareness of the customer's security requirements and follow applicable security policies and procedures.
  • Support planned after-hours maintenance or emergency activities when required.
  • Perform other IT infrastructure and end-user support duties consistent with the needs of a small, flexible technical team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 4–8 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 2–6 years of relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience providing hands-on IT support in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows laptops, desktops, peripherals, applications, and user connectivity issues.
  • Experience supporting traditional wired Ethernet networks and WiFi networks.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networking, and common enterprise network troubleshooting concepts.
  • Experience using network monitoring, diagnostic, or management tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across the endpoint and network layers and determine the appropriate path to resolution.
  • Experience working with an enterprise ticketing system and managing incidents and service requests through completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to document technical issues, troubleshooting activities, configurations, and resolutions clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse technical team supporting multiple customer organizations.
  • Ability to independently manage daily priorities while escalating issues appropriately.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work primarily on-site, approximately 80% of the time, based on customer and operational requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to perform hands-on installation, troubleshooting, equipment replacement, cabling, and related support activities.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours or a modified schedule for planned maintenance or emergency activities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Candidate selected will be subject to a Government Public Trust security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to customer information.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Ubiquiti UniFi networking technologies, including UniFi switches, wireless access points, gateways, controllers, or management platforms.
  • Experience administering or troubleshooting small-to-medium enterprise LAN and WiFi environments.
  • Experience supporting Zscaler technologies, including ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, or Zscaler Client Connector.
  • Experience with Microsoft M365 suite and Entra ID.
  • Experience working in a Zero Trust environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise WiFi environments, including coverage, interference, client connectivity, and access point issues.
  • Familiarity with network switches, wireless access points, gateways, UPS systems, structured cabling, and other network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with endpoint security, access control, data loss prevention, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience supporting government customers or working within a federal IT environment.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent technical certifications.

Successful Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a well-rounded infrastructure support professional who enjoys working across traditional technical boundaries. Rather than focusing exclusively on network engineering or exclusively on desktop support, this individual will serve as a flexible technical resource capable of supporting both areas.

The position is particularly suited to someone who has established desktop and end-user support skills and is developing deeper network administration expertise. The candidate should be comfortable working directly with users, performing hands-on troubleshooting, configuring and supporting network infrastructure, and collaborating with more senior engineers when issues require additional expertise.

Prior Ubiquiti UniFi experience is desirable but is not required. A candidate with solid networking fundamentals, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to learn the UniFi environment can be successful in this role.

Success in this position requires adaptability, sound troubleshooting skills, strong customer service, and a willingness to take ownership of issues from initial identification through successful resolution.
