Job Summary:
Responsible for using analysis techniques to evaluate the properties of a materials, components or systems without causing damage. Utilize Non-Destructive inspection methods (ultrasonic) to verify parts and processes are in compliance with customer engineering requirements. Set-up and standardize NDI equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results. Establish techniques from approved general procedure or work instructions for final approval. Conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards. Provide necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees. Perform audit surveillance on non-destructive inspection processes and initiate and document any non-conformances according to specification, process and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:

Utilize Non-Destructive inspection methods (Ultrasonic, UTT and PE Linear Array) to verify parts are in compliance with customer engineering requirements
Set-up and standardize NDI equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results
Conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards
Provide necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees
Perform audit surveillance on non-destructive inspection processes and initiate and document any non-conformances according to specification, process, and procedures
Be capable of self-direction during off-shift work periods (weekends, nights, holidays, etc.)
Leads Level 1 NDI Technicians with their Level 2 qualifications/certifications
In-process technique development
Preps for audits and participates in audit surveillances
Engages with RCCA events

Qualified Experience and Training:
Education:
Required
80+ hrs of formal classroom training in NDI techniques, to include ultrasonic inspection (must be able to provide supporting documentation)
Experience:

800 hrs of directly related NDI experience (documented)
Licensure/Certifications:
Ultrasonic Level II certification

5% domestic/international travel

Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
Squatting / Kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
Travel: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
Heights – Able to function at heights up to 40 ft. Able to operate moving platforms, hydraulic lifts and forklifts.
PPE Required: Safety glasses, bump caps and safety-toed shoes must be worn when on the manufacturing floor.
