Role Overview
As a Mobile Staff QA Engineer I, you serve as a technical leader for quality across our iOS and Android applications. You define scalable mobile testing strategies, establish automation and validation standards, and improve how quality is integrated throughout the mobile development and release lifecycle. You combine deep mobile quality assurance expertise with strong technical judgment to solve complex testing challenges across devices, operating systems, network conditions, and release environments. You also advance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and agentic testing workflows across the mobile squad, establishing practical validation standards and measurable approaches that improve quality, regression efficiency, and engineering velocity while maintaining appropriate human accountability. You collaborate closely with Engineering and Product, influence mobile quality practices across teams, and mentor QA engineers as they strengthen their automation, testing, and quality engineering capabilities.
Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success.
What you do each day:
- Own and evolve the mobile quality strategy, defining the right mix of automated, exploratory, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) testing across iOS and Android
- Design, maintain, and improve scalable mobile automation frameworks using tools such as (i.e. Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, Maestro) and integrate automated testing into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows
- Own testing approaches for mobile-specific scenarios including application lifecycle, deep and universal links, push notifications, operating system permissions, biometric authentication, complex gestures, accessibility, localization, and varying network conditions
- Establish device and operating system coverage strategies using real-device testing platforms such as (i.e. BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab, TestMu Device Farm) to validate application quality across representative environments
- Lead mobile release quality practices across tooling such as (i.e. Fastlane, Bitrise, App Center, TestFlight, Google Play Console) and use crash, performance, and observability signals to identify and reduce production quality risks
- Operationalize AI-assisted and agentic mobile testing workflows that improve regression identification, test generation, execution, defect detection, and overall squad efficiency while maintaining clear validation and engineer-in-the-loop standards
- Establish measurable standards for AI-enabled testing, including quality, accuracy, coverage, regression stability, defect detection, and appropriate delegation and validation boundaries
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Platform, and related technical teams to refine requirements, troubleshoot complex device-specific issues, evaluate quality risks, and define appropriate validation strategies for mobile and AI-powered product experiences
- Improve QA methodologies, automation frameworks, documentation, quality metrics, and reusable testing practices that strengthen mobile quality across teams
- Mentor and coach QA engineers on mobile automation, test design, quality engineering, AI-assisted workflows, and disciplined validation practices
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in quality assurance engineering with significant experience testing native iOS and/or Android applications through both manual and automated approaches
- Advanced experience with mobile automation frameworks such as (i.e. Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, Maestro)
- Proficiency reading or working in Kotlin and/or Swift, with solid programming experience using languages and testing frameworks such as (i.e. Java, TestNG, JUnit)
- Experience defining device and operating system coverage strategies using real-device testing platforms such as (i.e. BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab, TestMu Device Farm)
- Experience with mobile continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), release, and distribution tooling such as (i.e. Fastlane, Bitrise, App Center, TestFlight, Google Play Console, GitLab, GitHub)
- Proficiency with mobile debugging, profiling, crash reporting, and observability tools such as (i.e. adb, logcat, Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler, Charles, Proxyman, Crashlytics, Sentry, Datadog)
- Experience with bug tracking and test management tools such as (i.e. Jira, TestRail) and a strong understanding of software development and quality assurance methodologies
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted testing, AI testing platforms, or Model Context Protocol (MCP)-based test generation and execution, with demonstrated judgment around validation, reliability, and appropriate human oversight
- Proven experience driving team efficiency or output quality through the strategic use of AI tools and automation
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
What will help you succeed:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes across complex mobile systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence technical and cross-functional partners
- A proactive ownership mindset and commitment to continuously improving product quality, engineering practices, and team effectiveness
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with complex and ambiguous technical problems
- Experience with mobile accessibility, localization, internationalization, or visual regression testing
- A multi-dimensional background with a breadth of cross-functional interests or depth of specialized mastery
- Personal resilience to learn from scratch, and successfully thrive in ambiguity
Compensation starts at $6,400 USD per month.
