The Role

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft AI & Automation Architect to design and deliver AI-enabled automation and agent solutions for our clients.

This is a hands-on consulting role for someone who can combine client engagement, solution architecture and delivery leadership with the ability to personally build and configure solutions. You will work directly with client stakeholders to understand business problems, challenge requirements, redesign processes and translate needs into practical solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate and Azure AI Foundry.

You will also provide technical leadership to small delivery teams, typically 2–4 consultants or engineers, including offshore team members. This includes setting technical direction, allocating work, reviewing outputs and ensuring the quality of the delivered solution.

The role would suit an experienced Power Platform, intelligent automation or digital transformation consultant who has built strong practical capability in generative AI, AI agents and modern Microsoft AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead client workshops to understand business needs, identify automation and AI opportunities, and define requirements.
• Challenge existing processes and help clients redesign them rather than simply automate the current state.
• Shape solution options and explain technical choices, trade-offs and risks to business and technology stakeholders.
• Design and deliver solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate and Azure AI Foundry.
• Personally build and configure agents, workflows, integrations, connectors, plug-ins and APIs.
• Design agentic workflows integrating enterprise applications, data sources and AI models.
• Prototype solutions rapidly to validate approaches and demonstrate concepts to clients.
• Provide technical direction to small onshore and offshore delivery teams.
• Allocate work, review outputs and provide technical quality assurance.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and support solutions through testing and deployment.
• Work with architects, security teams, data teams and application owners to ensure solutions are robust and production-ready.

Requirements

Essential Skills: 

• Strong consulting experience in automation, digital transformation, AI or related technology programmes.
• Demonstrable hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Automate and Copilot Studio.
• Practical experience generative AI solutions.
• Experience designing workflow automation, AI assistants or agent-based solutions.
• Good understanding of connectors, APIs and enterprise application integration.
• Strong requirements discovery, process redesign and solution-shaping skills.
• Confidence working directly with senior client stakeholders.
• Experience leading small technical delivery teams and providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
• Ability to take ownership of a solution from discovery through to deployment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English
• Bachelor’s degree; quantitative or technical disciplines are an advantage
• Willingness to travel — up to around 60% depending on project (UK and international)
• Preferred Skills: 
• You are not expected to be a full-stack software engineer, but being comfortable working with APIs, JSON and light scripting or code where needed is an advantage
• Experience with technologies such as Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Graph, Dataverse, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Entra ID, RAG, AI evaluation and Responsible AI would be advantageous.
