Under the supervision of the Practice Manager and Clinical Supervisor, performs patient triage and has patient care responsibilities in support of multiple health care providers. Performs clinical, technical, and clerical duties to ensure quality patient care is provided. The Medical Office RN works in collaboration with the physician(s), other healthcare provider(s), and clinical support staff within the department and with other disciplines to plan and coordinate the delivery of patient care. The Medical Office RN demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety and age-appropriate considerations of patients. Responsibilities include health maintenance, education, counseling, collaborative planning, and ongoing care.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1. Take incoming calls and triage patients. Utilizing listening skills and clinical judgment in decision making to telephonically assess the severity of patient caller signs and symptoms.

2. Perform intake appointments for new pregnancies - including order genetic testing per protocol

3. Medication prior authorizations

4 Imaging prior authorizations

5. Review incoming lab results

6. Medication refill per protocol

7. Set up electronic refill requests

8. Address requests from providers in the electronic medical record

9. Schedule Maternal/Fetal medicine consults and imaging

10. Review and distribute incoming genetic testing results

11. The Medical Office RN is expected to and is accountable for providing safe patient care by demonstrating organizational skills that maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care for assigned patients/families.
12. Establishes professional relationships with nurses, physicians, other colleagues and patients and families.
13. Educates the patient and family about the patient’s condition and treatment, including preventative measures appropriate to the patient.
14. Collaborates, cooperates and communicates with other healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
15. Demonstrates competency as a responsive team member.
16. Demonstrates competency as patient educator .
17. Demonstrates competency in regulatory compliance and readiness.
18. Demonstrates competency in evidenced- based practice (EBP) in nursing.  

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing

Experience: Medical Office experience is preferred.

License/Certification: Current RN license to practice in the state of Massachusetts. Must maintain current BLS certification.

 

 

Pay Range:

$33.00 - $49.92

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.  The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
