Position Overview
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and improvement of power protection and power distribution equipment. This role combines mechanical design, CAD modeling, prototype development, product customization, and cross-functional engineering support.
Key Responsibilities
Create and maintain mechanical designs, drawings, models, and other engineering documentation for new and existing products.
Support the development of Switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Power Panels.
Work with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and other teams to move designs from concept through production.
Participate in design reviews and verification activities; provide technical input and make design changes as needed.
Develop and release mechanical prototypes and work with fabrication teams during prototype builds.
Evaluate prototype results and lead design improvements based on testing and fabrication feedback.
Independently manage smaller engineering projects and coordinate the activities required to meet project objectives.
Support product modifications, customization requests, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), product life-cycle activities, and design optimization.
Apply design-for-manufacturing principles to improve production readiness and product performance.
Help ensure designs meet customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable industry standards.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Experience with mechanical CAD design and engineering documentation.
Strong ability to work collaboratively while managing assigned projects and deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of SolidWorks CAD experience, including mechanical modeling and thermal and structural evaluation.
Knowledge of power protection equipment and the data center market.
Understanding of how UL and IEC electrical safety standards apply to electrical equipment.
Experience with PLM software.
Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and design for manufacturing.
Experience working with test fixtures and fixture design.
Technical writing experience.
Familiarity with Switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, and UL 508 panels.
Experience supporting product development, manufacturing, or engineering change processes.
