We are seeking a Material Handling & Packaging Assistant Manager to lead the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of material handling and packaging systems across our operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective flow of CKD/UCKD materials while maintaining part quality, maximizing container utilization, and supporting production requirements. The successful candidate will drive productivity improvements, packaging innovation, and operational excellence in alignment with Nissan standards and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead material handling engineering activities, including conveyor systems, storage solutions, handling equipment, and parts feeding layouts.

  • Ensure timely, safe, and quality-focused delivery of parts to production lines.

  • Optimize material flow through continuous improvement of unpacking, kitting, picking, and feeding processes.

  • Drive ergonomic and safety initiatives to improve workplace conditions and reduce operational risks.

  • Lead part presentation and material handling projects for current and new vehicle models.

  • Develop and implement packaging solutions that maximize Container Filling Ratio (CFR) and Rack Filling Ratio (RFR) while minimizing logistics costs.

  • Manage packaging engineering activities, including packaging specifications, loop size control, and compliance with Nissan packaging standards.

  • Conduct packaging validation and continuous improvement activities to enhance part protection and quality.

  • Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, safety, and Nissan standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.

  • Monitor material handling performance, equipment reliability, and key operational KPIs, driving actions to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

  • Lead shopfloor operations and manage direct and semi-direct technicians within the Material Handling and Unpacking areas.

  • Standardize work processes, implement Nissan Production Way principles, and support new model launches and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or a related field.

  • 6-8 years of experience in material handling, packaging engineering, logistics operations, or manufacturing environments.

  • Experience in material handling engineering, including the design and management of material handling systems, operational processes, and shopfloor teams.

  • Strong expertise in packaging engineering, including packaging design and selection, problem-solving methodologies, layout improvement implementation, and time study analysis.

  • CPIM & lean six sigma is a plus

  • Strong knowledge of material handling systems, packaging design, warehouse operations, and lean manufacturing principles.

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, CKD/UCKD operations, or supply chain engineering is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of ergonomics, safety standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Experience in the automotive industry is preferred; candidates from other manufacturing or engineering industries are also encouraged to apply.

  • Experience leading shopfloor teams and cross-functional projects.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and engineering/logistics analysis tools.

  • Fluent in both English; Arabic.
