As part of our growth strategy, we are looking for a Marine Superintendent who will report directly to the Marine & Operations Manager and play an important role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the fleet, while promoting the highest standards of navigational safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Act as a key shore-based marine contact for assigned vessels, providing operational guidance and support to Masters and senior deck officers. 

• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels in compliance with Company procedures, industry best practices and applicable international regulations. 

• Review and verify passage plans, navigational practices and bridge resource management standards across the fleet. 

• Support vessels in maintaining the highest standards of mooring, anchoring, cargo handling and other marine operations. 

• Monitor vessel operational performance and follow up on identified deficiencies, trends and improvement actions. 

• Oversee the maintenance, certification and operational readiness of marine and safety equipment. 

• Coordinate and follow up on PSC, Flag State, terminal and other external inspections, ensuring timely closure of findings and continuous improvement. 

• Support vessels in preparing for SIRE 2.0 and other applicable tanker industry inspections and assessments. 

• Conduct vessel visits, navigational audits, cargo audits, mooring audits, Master's Navigation Audits, Real Time Navigation Audits, VDR reviews and onboard drill training and assessments. 

• Identify operational, navigational and safety-related gaps through audits, inspections, reviews and vessel visits and provide or coordinate targeted training to address identified needs. 

• Participate in the investigation of marine incidents, navigational events and operational non-conformities and ensure effective follow-up of corrective and preventive actions. 

• Monitor compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, ballast water management and statutory record-keeping requirements. 

• Review deck maintenance standards and support vessels in implementing effective maintenance strategies. 

• Collaborate with onboard and shore-based teams to ensure the timely provision of marine and safety-related stores, instruments, equipment and services. 

• Provide input into the performance, training and development needs of Masters and deck officers in cooperation with the Crew Department. 

• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of marine procedures, operational standards and fleet instructions. 

• Monitor relevant regulatory and industry developments and support their effective implementation across the fleet. 

• Support emergency response activities and participate in the Company's emergency response arrangements as required. 

• Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to the continuous improvement of marine performance across the fleet. 

• Prepare, monitor and control the Marine Department budget, including navigational charts and publications, paints, safety instruments, deck equipment and other relevant expenditure. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

• Holder of a valid Captain’s License. 

• Minimum 3 years in a senior deck officer position on tanker and/or chemical vessels. 

• Previous shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent within the tanker and/or chemical sector will be considered an advantage. 

• Good command of written and spoken English. 

• Good computer literacy and familiarity with relevant maritime software and digital systems. 

• Good communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. 

• Strong leadership, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities. 

• Sound knowledge of applicable maritime regulations, industry standards and operational requirements. 

• Ability to monitor and stay abreast of changes in legislation, international requirements, industry standards and other developments affecting marine operations. 

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities. 

• Willingness and ability to travel internationally and visit vessels as required.
