The Manufacturing Technology Senior Engineer (Controls & Automation) is responsible for all controls and automation engineering for the Singapore manufacturing equipment, own the PLC, HMI programming and automation scope for new tool design, existing tool troubleshooting and improvement, as well as site smart manufacturing projects.

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Technology and is part of the Singapore Manufacturing Technology team located in 13 Benoi Sector, Singapore and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• New equipment design and development Projects: own the controls and automation scope of new equipment development projects; review and approve vendor control designs and software, including electrical drawings, I/O lists, network architecture and source code etc; participate in new equipment URS, design review, FAT, SAT, IQ till handover to production.
• Troubleshoot and improve existing manufacturing process equipment: serve as the controls and automation subject matter expert for site process equipment. Troubleshoot complex controls issues using structured root-cause analysis across PLCs, HMIs, controls logic, communications, instrumentation, drives, electrical interfaces and machine sequences, and drive permanent fixes for recurring issues that affect quality and throughput. Modify control system programs safely and efficiently under the site change management process.

• Deploy smart manufacturing at Pall’s advanced manufacturing facility: connect tools to the site OT network and Ignition SCADA platform for real-time data collection, setup process equipment data SPC trending and OEE dashboard. Evaluate and deploy advanced automation technologies, such as robotics, machine vision, smart sensors, automated inspection and Industry 4.0 solutions, to improve safety, quality, productivity and OEE.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• At least a bachelor’s degree in electrical, automation or mechatronics engineering, or a closely related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial controls or automation system integration.

• Ability to read, markup and troubleshoot electrical schematics, panel and I/O drawings, P&IDs, network architecture drawings and equipment documentation.

• Own PLC and HMI skills on Rockwell, Keyence, Omron, Mitsubishi, Siemens control platforms, including new program development, online edits and troubleshooting, understanding of automated machine sequences, safety interlocks, control logic, fault handling and alarm management.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Hands-on commissioning experience, including I/O checkout, PLC/HMI debugging, sequence testing, instrumentation verification, motion setup, FAT/SAT and qualification support.

• Process control experience with flow, pressure, temperature and level instrumentation, control valves, mass flow controllers and PID loop tuning, as well as VFDs and servo/motion systems.
