Introduction to the job 

Our team is responsible for safety, quality, and on-time delivery of unpacking, packing, and cleaning activities to support inbound and outbound material handling. As a Rigging & Packaging Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross sector teams such as DnE, Quality, S&SP, Mfg., Logistics to optimize package specification, improve pack/unpack methods, prevent material damage and contamination. Ensuring packaging solutions consistently align with and exceed stakeholder requirements. You will also improve and standardize logistics processes across warehouse and cleanroom operations. You will analyze operational performance, resolve disturbances, lead structural improvement initiatives, and implement solutions for operation sustainability. 

This is a hands-on engineering role that requires regular shopfloor engagement to closely collaborate with operational teams. You will serve as a key liaison between operations and management, ensuring the improvement initiatives deliver measurable benefits to safety, quality, delivery, cost and sustainability. 

Responsibilities

Package engineering and specification optimization 

• Review and continuously optimize packaging spec. for inbound, outbound and transportation requirements. 

• Identify packaging risks and failure modes, including material damage, contamination, handling constraints, and transport risks to implement preventive solutions. 

• Lead packaging trials, validations, and change implementation while defining clear acceptance criteria and performance metrics. 

• Work with stakeholders to clarify packaging requirements, resolve packaging issues, and align on ownership and implementation plans. 

Process engineering and continuous improvement 

• Analyze material unpacking, packing processes and performance data to identify bottlenecks, operational risks, and improvement opportunities. 

• Lead cross-functional improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, productivity such as labor hour and cycle time. 

• Apply structural problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies to implement solutions. 

• Serve as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) for assigned logistics processes and contribute to cross-sector improvement initiatives. 

• Define project scope, expected benefits, implementation plans, and performance metrics, and report progress and results to factory management. 

Problem solving and standardization 

• Provide hands-on support to shopfloor teams to identify and resolve the disturbances related to rigging and packaging operations. Investigate material damage, abnormalities, and process deviations, as well as coordinate timely containment, resolution, and escalation. 

• Perform RCA and implement corrective and preventive actions, including training, and change management. 

• Monitor the effectiveness of actions/solutions to ensure that improvements are sustained.

• Develop, publish, maintain, and continuously improve standard work instructions for rigging and packaging operations. 

• Translate lessons learned from disturbances into knowledge-transfer materials and provide training to shopfloor teams. 

Stakeholder and project management 

• Act as a key liaison between operations, management, and cross-functional stakeholders for improvement initiatives. 

• Align stakeholders on improvement priorities, decisions, implementation plans, and responsibilities. 

• Communicate project proposals, risks, progress, and results clearly to operational and management team. 

Responsibilities

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering 

• 3+ years working experience with warehouse, logistics, packaging, material-handling, or manufacturing operations. 

• Hands-on experience working with operational teams in a warehouse, factory, clean room or comparable shopfloor environment. 

• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to implement process changes. 

• Experience analyzing operational processes and leading process improvement initiatives. 

• Experience with 3PL management is a plus. 

• Experience with logistics automation, packaging/material handling automation, AGV/AMR, or other automation related projects is a plus. 

• Experience using AI tools for data analysis, process improvement, documentation or knowledge management is a plus.
