JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Sports Remote Engineering & Operations runs a standing portfolio of technical initiatives — private 5G at venues, in-helmet point-of-view cameras, camera tracking and augmented reality, connected-ball and player tracking, volumetric capture, and automated content moderation. Most of them are technically sound and short of hands. This role exists to move them.

This is a hands-on job. You will spend a real share of your week doing the work yourself — on-site testing, integration, writing specifications, chasing vendors to a decision. You will also be the person who makes sure the rest of it happens: that every project has a next milestone and a date, that equipment was specified early enough to actually be ordered, and that the people who needed to know were told before it affected them.

If you're looking for a role that sets technology strategy from a distance, this isn't it. If you want to ship things that end up on air across NFL, MLB, College Football, NASCAR, UFL, and International Soccer, it is.

Stated plainly so expectations are clear from the start: this role executes, recommends, and escalates. Cross-sport technical architecture and vendor strategy sit with our Director of Engineering; remote integration and the plant interface sit with our Remote Integration Engineering lead; capital authority sits with the SVP. You'll work as a peer to both — they set the technical direction, you carry it to completion. That division is deliberate, and it means you can be excellent at this job without having to be the deepest engineer in the department.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive our active technical initiatives to their next milestones — on-site tests and evaluations, vendor and partner coordination, and a live date on every card
• Escalate the calls that need executive judgment quickly rather than letting a project sit while a decision waits
• Produce specifications, equipment lists, and build calendars early enough that our integration and logistics function can procure and ship against real lead times rather than against deadlines
• Support major capital projects from requirements through commissioning, in partnership with the teams that own integration and procurement
• Apply and document the engineering standards our Director of Engineering sets, and hold new builds to them
• When a property wants an exception, capture it, assess it, and raise it — rather than absorbing it quietly and letting the standard erode
• Own the status reporting this function has been missing: where projects stand, what's at risk, what decisions are needed, and by when
• Act as the Field Operations point of contact with our information security team, own the Field Operations security dashboard, and drive remediation items to closure under the security architecture our Director of Engineering owns
• Give every initiative in the portfolio a next milestone and a date — and surface the stalled ones rather than letting them sit
• Stand up status reporting that partners come to rely on
• Get technical requirements to integration and logistics inside their lead times, every time.
• Document the engineering standards as they exist today, with exceptions logged rather than absorbed.
• Take the security dashboard fully in hand and bring remediation current
• Take enough execution off our senior engineering staff that architecture and standards work can actually get done

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• 5+ years in broadcast or live production engineering, with at least one or two leading projects or people
• track record of getting technical projects across the line — including the unglamorous parts: vendor follow-through, lead times, and closing items out — we have deep technical expertise in the group; what we need alongside it is someone who converts decisions into finished work on a date.
• Hands-on capability across IP video infrastructure (ST 2110, JPEG XS), RF and wireless camera systems, transmission, and remote production workflows — enough to earn credibility and do the work, without needing to be the deepest technical voice in the room
• Judgment to work as a peer to senior technical colleagues: taking architectural direction from them while holding them to dates, and escalating rather than absorbing when the two conflict
• Comfort working in a union environment
• Written communication strong enough that people actually read your status and act on it
• Willingness to travel and work event schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays — expect heavier load during football season and around major events.

• Every initiative in the portfolio has an owner, a milestone, and a date — and nothing sits stalled without being surfaced.
• Partners describe communication from this function as predictable
• Technical requirements reach integration and logistics within lead times
• Projects delivered on schedule, with exceptions to standard logged rather than absorbed
• Security remediation is current rather than accumulating
• Measurably less execution work sitting with the Director of Engineering at year-end than at the start

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $114,000.00-136,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
