ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Manager, Portfolio Analytics, you will lead a team of Investments Business Analysts and Graduate Trainees to drive data-informed investment decisions, strengthen portfolio performance and risk monitoring, and lead strategic investment systems and analytics initiatives.
In this role, you will provide analytical oversight and decision support for credit risk management, strengthen portfolio and financial data architecture, and own executive-level portfolio reporting. You will serve as a strategic partner to cross-functional and cross-country leaders, translating complex data into actionable insights that improve investment decisions and portfolio outcomes.
You will also lead core digital transformation initiatives to streamline data flows between investment operational and accounting systems, strengthen data quality and governance, and improve operational efficiency, portfolio visibility and portfolio quality across Inkomoko.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of Business Analysts and Graduate Trainees, setting clear objectives, performance standards and development plans while building a culture of analytical excellence, ownership and continuous improvement.
- Portfolio Performance Analytics: Lead analysis of portfolio performance across key indicators including disbursements, collections, PAR, defaults, write-offs, recoveries, and provisioning. Identify performance trends, drivers, risks and opportunities, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Portfolio Planning, Forecasting & Scenario Analysis: Support portfolio forecasting, target setting and scenario modelling to support portfolio growth.Provide forward-looking assessments of expected portfolio performance under different business and risk scenarios.
- Risk Analytics & Early Warning: Develop and maintain portfolio risk monitoring and early-warning indicators to identify emerging deterioration, concentration risks and other changes in portfolio quality. Lead stress testing and scenario analysis and provide timely escalation of material risks.
- Credit & Investment Decision Support: Provide timely, high-quality analytical support to Portfolio and Credit Risk Management, using data and insights to inform underwriting, client selection, portfolio growth, collections, risk mitigation and other investment decisions.
- Executive Reporting & Insights: Own internal and external executive-level reporting on portfolio investments, ensuring executive leadership, Board members, country leadership and external partners receive accurate, timely and insightful reporting. Translate complex portfolio data into clear conclusions, forward-looking insights and actionable recommendations.
- Business Intelligence & Reporting: Design, develop and maintain automated dashboards, analytical tools and reporting solutions that provide accessible, reliable and timely visibility into portfolio performance, risk and strategic KPIs.
- Data & Systems Transformation: Support the DT team on data and systems change initiatives that strengthen credit risk infrastructure, data integration, portfolio analytics and reporting automation. Ensure analytical requirements are clearly translated into effective system and data solutions.
- Cross-Country Collaboration: Partner with country Investment teams and leadership to strengthen investment systems, data quality, portfolio monitoring and reporting, while ensuring consistent analytical standards and timely resolution of data and reporting issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with all regional functions to ensure effective data flows, aligned methodologies and high-quality analytical inputs across the organisation.
- Data Governance, Quality & Audit Readiness: Establish and enforce data quality, governance and analytical quality-assurance standards. Ensure portfolio reporting and analysis are accurate, traceable, reproducible and aligned with internal policies, regulatory requirements and audit standards.
- Analytical Team Operating Model: Establish the team's analytical priorities, delivery calendar, quality standards and ways of working, ensuring the Portfolio Analytics function consistently delivers high-value insights to support organisational and portfolio objectives.
Requirements
Who we are looking for;
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (relevant professional charter preferred).
- 4+ years of progressive experience in business analytics, financial analysis, portfolio management, or credit risk management.
- Experience managing, leading, or mentoring analytics professionals and junior team members.
- Demonstrated track record of leading technology integration or systems change management projects in a financial or investment context.
Technical Skills
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Expert proficiency in analytics coding language and tools. Python plus SQL will be an added advantage in addition to tools knowledge on MS Excel, financial modeling, credit risk modeling, and portfolio stress testing.
- Data Visualization: Advanced mastery of enterprise BI and dashboarding platforms such as Power BI, Holistics, or Tableau.
- Systems Architecture & Data Integration: Deep understanding of data pipelines, core banking/investment platform integrations, and financial data flows and workings of APIs.
- Project Management: Proficiency in project tracking methodologies, quality assurance, and workflow documentation tools.
