Manage various Masters Tournament Foundation and Masters Tournament Charities (MTF & MTC) initiatives relating to golf development worldwide and within the existing MTF/MTC ecosystem: the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC), Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC), the Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA), Drive, Chip and Putt (DCP) and The Patch Project (TPP). This position will develop and execute detailed operational plans to further global golf development at the highest standard. Manager, Golf Development will also assist and support various operational aspects of the Masters Tournament as needed.

This position is a full-time, on-site role in Augusta, GA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and represent Augusta National Golf Club as a member of the DCP Task Force.
  • Manage all pre-National Finals communication and logistics including the management of the participant registration system, reserving flights & hotels for all players, uniform distribution, compiling player bios, organizing the DCP App, running Player/Chaperone orientation, and ordering the proper tournament supplies including DCP operations guides, amongst other tasks.
  • Manage all aspects of the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals weekend including coordinating with other departments to execute registration, special events and the competition at the highest standard.
  • Manage various aspects of the DCP qualifying season including day-to-day oversight of the DCP registration system during qualifying season, coordinating all participant gifting for the qualifying season, leading efforts on Task Force meetings with the USGA and the PGA of America, and updating the Operations Manual.
  • Attend and assist in the administration of DCP Regional final qualifying.
  • Conduct research and reports for the DCP program regarding participant totals, gifting, qualifying locations, website enhancements, and more throughout the year.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of the Latin America Amateur Championship and Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship academies including hiring coaches, creating the Academy schedule, managing player invitations, managing budget, working closely with the venue to define Academy dates & needs, and providing reports to senior leadership.
  • Attend and assist in the organization and conduct of major amateur championships as directed by the Managing Director of Golf Development.
  • Assist in creating and executing a High-Performance Golf Development program by working in conjunction with The R&A and IGF as well as the USGA through their National Development Program. 
  • Build out a local, community youth caddie program and manage recruiting, training, budget and overall success and growth of the program. 
  • Liaise with potential partners for the caddie program including the Evans Scholars Foundation to leverage future careers and pathways for graduating students.
  • Provide additional support to the Tournament Headquarters staff by helping coordinate the Par 3 Contest, Honorary Starters Ceremony and Awards Ceremony.
  • Assist and support the Tournament Headquarters department with other general Masters Tournament activities during the week of the Masters Tournament.
  • Helps to organize and execute community and employee golf development programs throughout the season.
  • Draft, proof and submit correspondence to various stakeholders that participate and assist with the conduct of MTF/MTC events & projects and coordinate the translation of this correspondence into various languages.
  • Answers and directs inquiries regarding MTC/MTF initiatives including matters pertaining to eligibility for the various events.
  • Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an important part of the job.
  • Physical demands are outlined immediately below.

Physical Demands:

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Qualifications:

      Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Excellent use of presentation, word processing, database and mapping software in order to convey ideas and operational details to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to take direction from multiple staff members, organize and prioritize.
  • Self-starter and work independently.
  • Exceptional grammar, oral and written communications skills that also exhibit remarkable proofing and attention to detail.
  • Must be personable, conscientious, flexible, adaptable, creative, and innovative.
  • Must be available and flexible to work extended hours.
  • This position requires significant international travel, typically five to seven weeks annually, with additional travel based on business and event needs.

Relative Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management/Golf Management or related field required.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the golf industry/tournament operations is preferred.
  • Ideal candidates will have a broad golf background and knowledge of tournament management.

Required License(s):

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully complete the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program.

Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
