Lead leaders in complex GMP manufacturing

At AGC Biologics, your leadership will directly influence how biologic medicines are produced and delivered to patients worldwide.

As Manager within Downstream Microbial Manufacturing, you will take responsibility for a production area operating across multiple shifts. Your direct leadership focus will be the Shift Supervisors who lead the operational teams.

This is a senior manufacturing leadership role for someone who combines a strong technical understanding of biologics production with substantial experience in developing leaders and managing complex GMP operations.

You will create direction and alignment across shifts, ensure reliable production performance and develop the leadership capabilities needed to build a stable and continuously improving manufacturing organisation.

Full ownership of production performance

You will take overall ownership of your production area, ensuring that safety, quality, compliance, delivery and performance are managed consistently across all shifts.

Your role connects strategic priorities with daily execution. You will move between the shop floor, leadership discussions and cross-functional decision-making, maintaining a clear understanding of operational performance while ensuring that longer-term improvements remain on track.

Working closely with your Shift Supervisors, you will support them in leading their teams, managing performance and handling both operational and people-related challenges. You will set direction, establish clear expectations and ensure consistency across the leadership team.

You will also collaborate closely with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and other internal stakeholders to:

• Maintain production readiness and reliable execution
• Anticipate and address operational risks
• Resolve complex production challenges
• Support audits and regulatory inspections
• Strengthen processes and operational performance
• Translate business priorities into sustainable production plans

Success in this role means creating a production setup that is robust, predictable and continuously improving, while developing strong leaders who can carry that performance forward.

Develop a strong leadership team

You will lead a team of Shift Supervisors and be part of a manufacturing leadership environment built on trust, accountability and close collaboration.

Your leadership will be visible and hands-on, but your impact will primarily be created through the leaders reporting to you. You will coach and challenge your Shift Supervisors, strengthen their leadership capabilities and support them in creating high-performing teams across all shifts.

You will be expected to create clarity, set direction and establish an environment where leaders and employees take ownership and pride in delivering safe, compliant and high-quality results.

The experience you bring

You bring substantial leadership experience from GMP-regulated production and are motivated by leading other leaders in a complex manufacturing environment.

You understand how to balance operational performance, quality requirements and people leadership. You also have the professional and technical foundation needed to understand and challenge production, quality and operational priorities.

To succeed in the role, you will likely have:

• A relevant degree within biotechnology, engineering or life sciences
• Significant experience of eight years or more from biologics API or GMP manufacturing, with clear relevance to production operations
• Substantial and sustained leadership experience from production
• Experience leading through other leaders, preferably Shift Supervisors, Team Leads or other people managers
• A strong understanding of microbial downstream processes and production operations
• Solid knowledge of GMP requirements and quality systems

Experience from multi-shift production, a CDMO environment or regulatory inspections will further support your success in the role.
