Job Title

Manager, Corporate Actuarial, Actuarial Analytics & Insights (S&R)

Job Description

Fixed Term Contract (12 months)

The Team

The Actuarial Analytics & Insights, S&R team forms part of the Corporate Actuarial (CA) function within Divisional Business Services (DBS) and is responsible for the Savings and Retirement (S&R) business. The S&R Line of Business delivers funded and non-funded reinsurance solutions to global insurance clients, catering for the increasing demand from clients in various jurisdictions for innovative reinsurance support that can transfer both longevity and asset risk.

The team are responsible for performing analysis and communicating insights in relation to both the in-force book and new business. This includes working across US GAAP, US Statutory (US STAT), Internal Economic Capital (EC) and Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) reporting bases, as well as any applicable local reporting bases. The team’s focus is on developing a deep understanding of both the asset and liability side of the balance sheets, delivering value-add outcomes that support S&R and wider PL Re’s strategic priorities.

The team will interact closely with S&R and will be a key part of DBS and PL Re, interacting with CA (including the Valuation team and Actuarial Systems Team), Operations, Finance, R&D, and Pricing.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong actuarial background and relevant experience to join the Corporate Actuarial function as a Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract, focusing on process improvements for the S&R Actuarial Analytics & Insights (AA&I) team.

Reporting to the AVP, Actuarial Analytics & Insights, S&R, this role offers a challenging variety of work and excellent opportunities to make positive contributions to S&R and CA. The role requires experience reporting work with a proven track record of process improvement, as the successful individual will play a key role in enhancing the efficiency, scalability, and robustness of our processes.

The initial focus of the role will be to assess, redesign, and implement improvements to existing processes, addressing areas of operational complexity, manual effort, control weaknesses, and scalability challenges. Working closely with actuarial, finance, operations, technology, and business stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive tangible improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and user experience.

There will be additional opportunities to support the team's future readiness agenda by helping design and implement new processes and operating models to support novel and increasingly complex S&R transactions across multiple jurisdictions. This includes ensuring processes are scalable, fit-for-purpose, and capable of supporting future business growth, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives.

Given the fixed-term nature of the role, the successful candidate will be expected to rapidly gain an understanding of the team's processes, establish strong stakeholder relationships, and deliver demonstrable improvements early in the engagement, while helping build capabilities that support the team's future needs.

The role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact by improving how the team operates today while helping shape how it will support the business in the future.

Role Responsibilities

  • Review, assess, and prioritise opportunities to improve existing actuarial reporting, analytics, and operational processes.
  • Lead the redesign and implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, controls, and data quality.
  • Simplify, standardise, and automate processes to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
  • Document target operating models, process flows, controls, and governance arrangements.
  • Deliver process improvement initiatives from initial assessment through to implementation and handover.
  • Build strong relationships across Actuarial, Finance, Operations, Technology, and Business teams to drive successful change.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to understand requirements and develop practical solutions.
  • Support the design and implementation of processes and operating models for new and complex S&R transactions.
  • Ensure processes remain fit for purpose and can support future business growth, regulatory requirements, and evolving business needs.
  • Quickly gain an understanding of the business and identify opportunities to deliver measurable improvements early in the contract term.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified actuary with minimum of 5 years’ experience in life insurance or life reinsurance
  • Proven experience delivering process improvement, transformation, or operational excellence initiatives within insurance, financial services, or a similar complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly understand new business environments and deliver tangible results within a short timeframe.
  • Experience redesigning and implementing scalable processes, controls, and operating models.
  • Strong project management and change delivery skills, with a track record of managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Understanding of actuarial, finance, reporting, or insurance operations processes.
  • Experience with process mapping, workflow design, process automation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of life insurance, retirement products, actuarial reporting, or regulatory frameworks would be advantageous.

Competencies and Behaviours

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fast learner with the ability to rapidly absorb new concepts, processes, and business requirements.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and drive change in a collaborative manner.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and delivery-focused.
  • Comfortable operating in environments with ambiguity and evolving requirements.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on creating sustainable solutions rather than short-term fixes.
