Maintenance Assistant
Facility: Dublin Post Acute

Position Summary
Dublin Post Acute is seeking a dependable and hardworking Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in maintaining a safe, clean, comfortable, and functional environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Assistant will assist with routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and general upkeep of the facility and grounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance and repair of the facility, equipment, fixtures, and grounds.
- Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs as assigned.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and routine inspections of facility equipment and systems.
- Help maintain resident rooms, common areas, offices, bathrooms, and other facility areas in safe and working condition.
- Assist with maintaining heating, cooling, lighting, plumbing, and other building systems.
- Assist with grounds maintenance, including removing debris, basic landscaping, and seasonal tasks.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies in an organized and safe manner.
- Report equipment problems, safety concerns, or needed repairs to the Maintenance Director.
- Assist with emergency maintenance situations as directed.
- Follow all facility safety policies, procedures, and infection-control requirements.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of completed maintenance work.
- Assist with fire and life-safety inspections and drills as assigned.
- Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and facility information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director or Administrator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, or skilled trade experience preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare or long-term care environment is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general building maintenance preferred.
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be able to respond appropriately to maintenance emergencies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies as required.
- Ability to safely use ladders and perform work at various heights when necessary.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and in varying temperatures.
- Ability to perform physical duties associated with routine facility maintenance.
Resident Safety and Compliance
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for following all facility policies and procedures related to resident safety, infection prevention and control, emergency preparedness, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance. The employee must promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or other issues that may affect the safety and well-being of residents, staff, or visitors.
