Job Description:

Through the DoW SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands-on training and experience as a Logistics Technician Fellow, supporting enterprise logistics operations in high-impact, mission-focused environments. In this Fellowship, you’ll observe and participate in real-world logistics, inventory, and asset management activities while supporting operational readiness across customer programs. You’ll work alongside GDIT logistics teams and customer counterparts while preparing for a successful transition into civilian logistics, supply chain, warehouse operations, or asset management careers.

As a Logistics Technician Fellow, you will train under the guidance of senior logisticians to understand how equipment, materials, and assets are received, tracked, stored, redistributed, and maintained across a large-scale enterprise. Throughout the Fellowship, you will support inventory workflows, distribution activities, data accuracy, material handling, and customer-facing logistics coordination—building the operational, analytical, and organizational skills required for an intermediate-level logistics career.

HOW A LOGISTICS TECHNICIAN FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Performing clerical and manual tasks to maintain inventory of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment.

  • Receiving, barcoding, inventorying, and assisting with the disposition of assigned equipment.

  • Updating tracking and management databases with accurate asset information.

  • Moving equipment between facilities via pallet jack, push cart, or other approved material-handling tools.

  • Maintaining consumable stock levels and assisting with reorder requests.

  • Supporting customer logistics requirements through analysis, organization, planning, and administration of day-to-day provisioning, spares, maintenance, and repair activities.

  • Conducting or assisting in distribution and network studies to monitor inventory and develop strategies to meet delivery timelines.

  • Participating in special projects, shipping/receiving, inter-plant transfers, barcode assignments, and database maintenance.

  • Supporting annual inventory efforts and learning to account for thousands of accountable items in coordination with security and government logistics personnel.

  • Assisting other work centers in identifying and satisfying logistics requirements.

  • Performing both manual labor (e.g., palletizing/de-palletizing equipment) and computer-based tasks using Microsoft Office applications.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience) recommended for post-fellowship employment.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of related inventory management or logistics experience preferred.

  • Hands-on logistics analyst or technician experience supporting large-scale operations is beneficial.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe applications.

  • Familiarity with asset tracking databases and inventory management systems.

  • Ability to perform manual logistics tasks including palletizing/de-palletizing and equipment movement.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple logistics tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to work full days in fast-paced environments using a variety of skill sets.

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds or more and walk between offices/buildings.

  • Ability to access IT equipment in and around office furniture during inventory tasks.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to perform shipping/receiving, inter-plant transfers, barcode assignments, and database maintenance.

  • Assist other work centers to identify and satisfy logistics requirements.

  • Attention to detail and adherence to established and evolving logistics policies.

  • Valid driver’s license.

REQUIREMENTS:

Certifications:
