Position Overview
We’re looking for a Lead/Senior Match-3 Level Designer who can elevate the level experience, drive measurable improvements in level performance, and build a robust level ecosystem that supports long-term player engagement and sustainable monetisation.
This role combines strong level design craft with analytical thinking, ownership, and the ability to evolve level design practices at scale.
What You Will Do:
- Design, build, and tune engaging Match-3 levels with strong gameplay variety, balanced difficulty, and satisfying player experiences.
- Own the end-to-end level lifecycle, from creation and difficulty calibration to launch, performance assessment, and post-launch optimisation.
- Establish and evolve difficulty curves, progression pacing, and level quality benchmarks across the player journey.
- Analyse shipped level performance using player behaviour and gameplay metrics to identify tuning opportunities and address progression bottlenecks.
- Build a level environment that balances player experience, retention, and sustainable long-term monetisation.
- Partner with Product, Analytics, and Engineering to align design objectives, validate outcomes, and improve level performance.
- Establish scalable level design frameworks, quality standards, and production processes that improve consistency and efficiency.
- Mentor designers, facilitate design reviews, and strengthen level design craft, analytical thinking, and performance ownership.
- Own level design strategy and performance across progression segments, guide design planning, and act as a decision-maker on level quality, difficulty, and optimisation.
What You Bring:
- 5-10+ years of game design experience, with strong expertise in Match-3 level design in mobile F2P games.
- Proven proficiency in level building, difficulty tuning, progression pacing, and shipping levels at scale.
- Strong understanding of level performance metrics, player behaviour, and data-driven optimisation.
- Experience assessing shipped levels and driving meaningful post-launch improvements.
- Good understanding of Match-3 monetisation dynamics and the relationship between difficulty, booster usage, progression, and player engagement.
- Ability to balance gameplay quality, retention, and sustainable monetisation.
- Strong analytical thinking, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Lead-Level Expectations Include:
- - Experience mentoring designers and elevating and evangelizing level design craft across the team.
- - Ability to own level design strategy, performance, and optimisation across multiple progression segments.
- - Experience establishing scalable design frameworks and improving production efficiency.
- - Comfort acting as a design decision-maker and influencing product outcomes through level design insights.
