Team Leader - Legal for Lettings (Lincoln)

Legal for Lettings is a rapidly growing law firm specialising in Landlord and Tenant Law. Our mission is to provide market‑leading legal services to landlords while fostering a genuinely supportive, down‑to‑earth and innovative working environment. We focus on quality over volume and are proud to be challenging traditional ways of working in legal services.

We are now looking for a people‑focused Team Leader to help us develop and lead one of our key operational teams.

The Opportunity

Based in our Lincoln office, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing a team of legal professionals (including Legal Support Assistants and Paralegals). You will create the conditions for your team to thrive: clear expectations, strong coaching and feedback, and a culture where people feel supported, listened to and able to do their best work.

Expertise in Landlord and Tenant Law is highly advantageous, but we are equally interested in your track record as a team leader and people manager.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Legal Support Assistants and Paralegals.
• Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture with clear goals, regular 1:1s and meaningful feedback.
• Ensure the team remains motivated, engaged and aligned with our values, People policies and procedures.

Operational & Performance Management

• Support the Head of Department with day‑to‑day operational management and workflow planning.
• Oversee key operational requirements, including stock, stationery and team facilities.
• Promote excellent case management practices, ensure effective use of central diaries and uphold high file‑handling standards.

Client & Stakeholder Relationships

• Act as a key point of contact for your team on operational and client‑service issues.
• Build strong, commercial relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Handle and resolve escalated client complaints in a calm, professional and solutions‑focused way.

Marketing, Brand & Business Support

• Represent the team and firm at conferences and industry events.
• Support marketing and brand awareness initiatives that build Legal for Lettings’ profile in the market.

Risk, Quality & Compliance

• Help maintain compliance with legal, regulatory and internal quality standards.
• Role‑model best practice in documentation, record‑keeping and professional conduct.

About You

You are an experienced people leader who enjoys bringing the best out of others and balancing empathy with accountability. You will ideally bring:

• At least 12 months’ experience of leading people, with 3+ years being a strong advantage.
• Experience working in a regulated environment, ideally a private practice solicitors’ firm or similar professional services setting.
• Qualified Solicitor or Fellow of CILEX status is advantageous, but not essential.
• Expertise in Landlord and Tenant Law is highly advantageous.
• Proven experience of managing and developing high‑performing teams.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and make sound, pragmatic decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach and challenge constructively.
• Confidence managing multiple, demanding deadlines and prioritising effectively.

Work Environment

• Office‑based role in our Lincoln office, with on‑site parking and an on‑site café.
• Standard office hours: 09:00-17:30, Monday to Friday.
