About the Role

Twelve Labs is hiring a Legal Operations & Compliance Manager to build and run the operational backbone of our Legal function. You'll own the systems, processes, and records that let a small Legal team support a fast-growing global business, spanning contract operations, corporate governance administration, outside-counsel management, IP portfolio coordination, compliance-program administration, and legal technology.

Candidates must be able to travel up to 10% of the time annually to attend conferences, off-site meetings, and other business-related events as required by the role. This role may require participation in on-site interviews and/or completion of in-person onboarding processes.

In this role, you will

• Own Legal intake, triage, matter tracking, workflow administration, and status reporting.

• Identify opportunities to replace repetitive manual work with standardized workflows, self-service tools, or automation.

• Serve as the operational owner of the existing CLM and lead requirements gathering for future legal technology.

• Maintain corporate records, governance calendars, and support board/committee meetings, filings, and entity administration.

• Maintain a consolidated compliance calendar covering policies, training, audits, certifications, filings, assessments, and recurring reviews.

• Coordinate compliance projects across Legal, Security, Engineering, Product, Finance, People, and other operational owners.

• Support the legal and administrative components of SOC 2, CMMC, privacy, accessibility, AI governance, and similar initiatives.

• Maintain policy inventories, review cycles, approval records, version histories, and employee acknowledgments.

• Maintain Legal playbooks, standard operating procedures, decision trees, training materials, precedents, and internal guidance.

• Coordinate cross-functional Legal projects and ensure that decisions, owners, deadlines, and follow-up actions are documented.

• Serve as a responsive point of contact for questions regarding Legal processes, intake, contract status, signatures, records, and documentation.

• Train employees on Legal systems and workflows.

You may be a good fit if you have

• 5+ years in legal operations, senior paralegal, corporate governance, contract operations, or compliance operations, ideally in-house at a tech/software/AI company.

• A track record of designing and owning processes, not just administering existing ones.

• Experience with a CLM or matter-management system, contract repositories/metadata/renewals, and corporate governance recordkeeping.

• Experience tracking outside-counsel budgets, invoices, or matter data.

• Strong project management across functions, high attention to detail, and good judgment on when to escalate to an attorney.

• Comfort with confidential and privileged information, and the ability to work autonomously while keeping Legal leadership informed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate, project management credential, or legal-ops certification.

• Experience with SpotDraft, Ironclad, DocuSign, HubSpot, Carta, or similar applications.

• Experience supporting privacy, security, AI, or accessibility compliance programs (SOC 2, CMMC, GDPR).

• Experience supporting an international business or a venture-backed Series B/C company.
