This Lead System Engineering position is responsible for helping ensure that enterprise database technologies are secure, certified, supportable, and ready for use across the business. The role provides technical leadership for System Database Administration (SDBA) engineering functions, with a primary focus on Oracle Database, Oracle Client, MongoDB-related tooling, database security patch certification, product lifecycle governance, software distribution, documentation, and operational support for database deployment and vulnerability remediation activities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Lead certification and readiness activities for Oracle database and client technologies, including new database versions, operating system changes, desktop software packages, virtual desktop environments, and supported UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms.
• Coordinate recurring Oracle security patch certification efforts, including patch acquisition, staging, testing, issue resolution, release guidance, installation templates, and support for vulnerability remediation activities.
• Manage technology standards and product lifecycle information for Oracle Database, Oracle Client, MongoDB Compass, and related database tools, including version updates, usage requirements, product requests, and exception reviews.
• Maintain database software distribution capabilities, including Oracle software repositories, client installation packages, patch bundles, Oracle tools, instant client packages, and cloud-based or on-premises staging locations used by application and database support teams.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, certification procedures, patching guidance, technology advisories, and support materials, while providing expert consultation to application teams, database administrators, desktop services, security teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors.

This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong technical judgment, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will lead complex database certification, patching, standards management, repository support, documentation, and operational enablement activities that support security, compliance, service reliability, and business continuity.

The role requires the ability to work independently, resolve complex technical issues, coordinate with internal and external partners, mentor other technical resources, and clearly communicate risks, recommendations, and progress to stakeholders.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.

Typically requires 5 or more years of relevant experience in database administration, systems engineering, database security, platform certification, vulnerability remediation, software packaging or distribution, automation support, technology standards management, or related technical operations.

Strongly preferred experience includes:

• Oracle Database and Oracle Client
• UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms
• Database patching and security controls
• Vendor support processes
• Technical documentation
• Enterprise deployment practices

Relevant database, security, cloud, or systems certifications are a plus.
