Job Overview

Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our team and play a key role in advancing aerospace simulation technologies through the DESYRE co-simulation environment and framework.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining DESYRE software components while ensuring the platform delivers high performance, stability, accuracy, and reliability. You will work on challenging problems involving modeling, simulation, hybrid systems, and co-simulation, applying advanced concepts such as Models of Computation and Execution Semantics.

What You Will Do *

• design, development, and maintenance of components for the DESYRE simulation environment.
• Perform quality assurance, bug triage, and resolution (e.g., fixing DESYRE backend bugs to ensure stability and accuracy).
• Engineer and mature new features, such as updating the DESYRE Model Builder to support SysMLv2 integration.
• Apply advanced knowledge of Models of Computation and Execution Semantics (synchronous languages, state machines, discrete event, continuous time, hybrid systems).
• Ensure compliance and innovation in hybrid systems model-exchange and co-simulation standards (FMI, TLM, HLA, ED247, DPC).
• Provide technical leadership in software design principles, architecture patterns, and system integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems and software engineering, model-based design, and test engineering, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering excellence practices across the enterprise.

• Develop expertise in SysMLv2 integration and modern model-based engineering practices.
• Enhance your skills in Python, C++, SystemC, and distributed/real-time simulation architectures.
• Learn and apply advanced software architecture, design patterns, system integration, and engineering best practices.
• Gain exposure to MBSE, digital engineering, DevSecOps, and model-based design environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and develop strong experience in delivering end-to-end aerospace simulation solutions.
• Develop your technical leadership skills by mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence, and contributing to architectural decisions.
• Work on challenging engineering problems where software, systems engineering, modeling, and simulation come together to support next-generation aerospace technologies.

Qualifications You Must Have *

• BE/BTech/MCA with minimum 3+ experience in C++, Simulink&Matlab
• Experience with principles in the domain of modelling (model management, model transformation, etc) and simulation (multi-formalism, hybrid simulation, co-simulation, etc.)
• Knowledge of model-based theory (abstract interpretation, static and dynamic analysis), practice (experience with modeling and simulation environments, solvers, etc.), and a good knowledge of mathematical formalization, discrete and continuous dynamics modeling
• Expert-level knowledge of Models of Computation and Execution Semantics (synchronous, discrete-event, continuous-time, hybrid).
• Proven expertise with co-simulation and model-exchange standards: Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI),  Transaction-Level Modeling (TLM), High-Level Architecture (HLA), Aerospace Data Exchange Standard ED247, Distributed Parallel Co-simulation (DPC)
• Proficiency in Python, C++, SystemC, and strong familiarity with IEEE Std 1666-2023.
• Strong background in software design principles, architecture, and system integration.
• Excellent Development and Analytical ability with a Team player attitude

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience in aerospace/defense simulation or safety-critical systems.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines, model-based engineering (MBSE, MB Design, MB Definition), and digital engineering environments.
• Knowledge of real-time and distributed simulation architecture.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
