This includes working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the product line is defined and working with suppliers to determine the correct functionality for our customers. The Lead Engineer will demonstrate domain expertise in the design, implementation, and testing of open and closed loop embedded software resulting in a digital product for engine applications.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop requirements for the FADEC operating system in partnership with application software experts, control title holders, engine systems, and the FADEC technical strategist to ensure the operating system will support the FADEC’s intended operation.
  • Define, develop, and evolve software in a fast-paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure.
  • Define the operating system’s functionality schedule to support product line programs.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on design review needs and ensure the delivered system meets the qualification expectations of the product line.
  • Conduct testing and validation of the FADEC’s hardware and software to ensure it meets performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze data from engine tests to identify performance issues and work with internal application software, hardware, and supplier experts to identify root cause and corrective actions.
  • Suggest ideas to increase efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication and leveraging product and technology reuse.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports.
  • Partner with other Engineering teams, including Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers, to integrate control systems and embedded software with other engine components.
  • Lead FLIGHT DECK (Lean) initiatives to enhance system performance, reliability, and software quality.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

  • 6+ years of experience in Embedded Software Engineering
  • Experience developing embedded software using programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements, estimating efforts, and analyzing the impact of technology choices
  • Awareness of competitors and industry trends
  • Ability to ensure understanding of issues and present clear rationale, including speaking to mutual needs, win-win solutions, and balancing competing objectives
  • Desire to identify misalignment between goals, objectives, and work direction against the organizational strategy and make suggestions to course correct
  • Experience continuously measuring deliverables of self and team against scheduled commitments
  • Persistent and positive, especially in the face of overwhelming odds and/or setbacks
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision with the ability to delegate
  • Experience mentoring team members
