As an individual contributor Lead Data Scientist, you will drive the development of high-impact, scalable AI solutions, moving beyond prototypes to production systems.

What you'll be doing

This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight in a high-impact environment focused on innovation and continuous development.

• Develop and deploy production-level AI models using Gen AI capabilities like OpenAI, Gemini, etc and data-driven solutions that align with strategic business objectives.
• Tune and optimize AI models to improve their accuracy, efficiency and overall fitness for purpose in various applications.
• Evaluate third-party AI solutions on both functional and non-functional aspects, assessing their suitability based on performance, scalability, and business needs.
• Establish and apply model evaluation and coding standards to maintain production grade code.
• Work closely with business and engineering partners to define project requirements and direction, and establish development roadmaps.
• Develop and deploy AI-powered document intelligence solutions to extract, structure, validate, and generate insights from complex financial documents, including regulatory filings, financial statements, earnings transcripts, research reports, and other unstructured content.
• Design and optimize scalable retrieval and knowledge discovery frameworks using OCR, NLP, semantic search, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Large Language Models (LLMs) to enable accurate information extraction and analysis.
  

What you'll bring

Essential Skills

• 10+ years of Extensive experience applying data science methods to solve real-world problems with a proven track record of deploying AI models and solutions to production.
• Strong data analysis skills, with a foundation in probability, to lead robust model development and interpretation.
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented programming in Python with expertise in key data science and machine learning libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch and Scikit-Learn).
• Expertise in cloud technologies (emphasis on Azure and/or AWS) and deployment practices, ensuring seamless and scalable delivery.
• Proven track record to establish and uphold coding standards to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
• Excellent communication skills for summarizing complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical partners.
• Proven experience building production-grade document intelligence solutions for extracting, structuring, and analyzing text-based information from large and complex financial documents using OCR, Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), NLP, information extraction, and Generative AI techniques.
• Hands-on expertise with industry-leading AI and document understanding platforms, frameworks, and tools, including but not limited to OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, Llama, Azure AI Document Intelligence, AWS Textract, Google Document AI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector databases, and related technologies.

Desirable skills

• Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including code versioning, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring, to streamline development workflows and improve deployment reliability.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or related field, or equivalent work experience
