About the team

Join our Data Management team within Technology Consulting, where we design, build, and deliver enterprise-grade data solutions for clients in the Czech Republic and abroad. You’ll work on complex projects for organizations including large banks and insurance companies. You’ll collaborate with data engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to turn complex requirements into scalable cloud data solutions.

About your managers

Tomáš Karas is a Director who leads the whole Data Management team in Technology Consulting. Combining the roles of Data Architect and Delivery data lead, he helps clients build large-scale data platforms and transform data using modern data & AI technologies into business value. His teams deliver solutions that automate complex processes and save clients thousands of hours of operational effort using a combination of data & AI platforms. Outside of work, you'll likely meet him with a team at some place that involves music either on dance floor or behind the mic on karaoke. At home he spends time with family of 4 kids and their famous guinea pig farm.

David Tomandl is a Senior Manager who leads the Data Engineering team within Data Management in Technology Consulting. Combining the roles of Cloud Data Platform Architect and Delivery Manager, he helps clients build, modernize, and migrate modern data platforms, deliver data migrations in core system replacements, and transform data into tangible business value. David has delivered complex Data & AI projects across Europe and Canada. Outside of work, he is passionate about fishing for zander and staying active through sports.

Job description & summary

Are you an experienced data engineering professional ready to lead a team, own architectural decisions, and drive the technical direction of complex data projects? Join our team as a Lead Data Engineer and take ownership of designing, building, and delivering enterprise-grade data solutions.

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will lead a team of data engineers, working closely with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders. You will own the technical design of data solutions, ensure best practices in cloud engineering and automation, and mentor team members to help them grow. You will also act as a key technical point of contact for clients, translating complex requirements into robust, well-architected solutions.

You will:

• Design and own the architecture of data pipelines and platforms using tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, MS Fabric, and cloud-native technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Lead the technical delivery of data engineering projects, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
• Define and enforce engineering best practices and coding standards, and drive the adoption of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Guide the design of data integrations between databases, applications, APIs, and cloud platforms, including batch and real-time integration.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and support their technical growth.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, leading technical workshops and presenting architectural decisions.
• Grow your career toward the Cloud Data Platform Architect role.

What matters to us

• Proven experience leading data engineering teams or projects, with strong technical and people leadership skills.
• Deep hands-on experience with Python, GIT, databases, and software engineering best practices, including OOP, testing, and design patterns.
• Strong track record delivering projects using Databricks, Snowflake, or MS Fabric and cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Cloud certification, for example Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or GCP Professional Data Engineer.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead technical workshops and present to senior stakeholders.

What will help you stand out

• Deep expertise in data warehousing, data lakes, Lakehouse architecture, operational data stores, or data modeling.
• Multiple cloud certifications or expertise across more than one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and IaC frameworks at scale.
• Broad technical experience with tools such as PySpark, Kafka, Airflow, or BigQuery.
• Experience with enterprise-grade batch and real-time integration architectures.
• Experience with AI, LLMs, or AI agents in data engineering workflows, for example RAG or prompt engineering.
