Role Overview
As a Lead Business Operations Analyst, you will provide subject matter expertise in business operations, transformation and organisational effectiveness, helping Design Engineering operate effectively while continuously improving how the department works.
Working closely with the Head of Design and Development, you will support the effective operation of key management processes and routines, providing visibility, insights and recommendations that enable informed decision-making. You will also define solutions to complex organisational challenges and support the successful implementation of transformation initiatives across Design Engineering.
The role combines operational excellence with continuous improvement, ensuring that departmental objectives, operating models, resources, capability development and management routines remain effective, efficient and aligned with wider business priorities.
Responsibilities
Strategy and Objective Alignment
Support Head of Department in defining and maintaining annual objectives, ensuring alignment with higher-level priorities and clear cascade across the department.
Monitor progress against objectives, highlighting risks, opportunities and actions required to maintain delivery.
Operating Model Clarity and Evolution
Support Head of Department in clarifying and evolving the departmental operating model, including roles and responsibilities, ways of working and interfaces with other teams.
Maintain clear, accessible and up-to-date documentation of the operating model as organisational needs evolve.
Resource Management
Work with resource managers and stakeholders to clarify resource demand and allocation, maintaining visibility of current and future requirements.
Monitor departmental capacity, demand and allocation, highlighting gaps, risks and opportunities.
Ensure resource demand and allocation data is accurate, complete and maintained in a timely manner.
Analyse resource data and trends to provide insights and recommendations that support planning, prioritisation and allocation decisions.
Learning and Development
Maintain visibility of departmental learning and development needs, activities and progress, including completion of training needs analysis.
Analyse capability and development data to identify trends, gaps and priorities, providing recommendations that support departmental capability development, with particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence adoption and capability building.
Site Strategy
Lead or contribute to initiatives supporting the China NPD Site strategy, ensuring alignment with NPD and wider business priorities.
Operating Rhythm and Reporting
Establish and maintain an effective system of meetings that keeps attention focused on priorities, progress and required actions.
Develop dashboards and management reporting that provide visibility of status, risks and support effective decision-making.
Competencies
A degree in Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Business Management, Data Analytics, or a related discipline. MBA preferred.
Strong understanding of business transformation and organisational effectiveness principles.
Experience leading departmental initiatives that improve ways of working, organisational capability or business performance.
Ability to define business problems, evaluate opportunities and develop implementation approaches that deliver measurable outcomes.
Ability to effectively plan, prioritise activities and coordinate multiple interdependent workstreams.
Practical knowledge of project management, resource planning, dashboard development and business performance reporting.
Experience developing frameworks, guidance material, or business management systems.
Strong problem solving, analytical ability and critical thinking using a variety of methodologies.
Strong ability to communicate effectively through recommendations, workshops, presentations and stakeholder engagement activities.
Ability to collaborate across teams and influence others to successfully deliver transformation outcomes.
